@noondlyt Oh, and there is a stream of people who always call me a lazy burger flipper. They get an earful from me. First of all, burger flippers are not lazy. Secondly, if they are flipping burgers for 40 hours a week, why are we assuming they don't deserve financial security? It is not very Christian of them to think like that! 😉

@noondlyt My hope is naive, but maybe some will start to see the issues with wealth inequality in this country, and the world.
The funniest sort of reply was those who think I am trying to take away their money. I'm always like, "Bruh, You. Are. Not. A. Billionaire. I do not want your money. I want you to see how much closer you are to being houseless than to being a billionaire!"

I cannot show you the replies. The Bootlicker Brigade was so strong in my community that my posts pointing this out have been removed for somehow breaking the Next Door guidelines. I hate that site. However it gets me in front of a representative slice of the people in my community, and shows me how much work needs to be done to win an election with a truly progressive platform.
Basic reason, when it goes against one's works view, can elicit a defensive response, even when we think we have a common enemy, a common source of many of our problems.

The above plot uses starting principals from $1,000 to $1,000,000, the latter being roughly equivalent to the "meager" sum Jeff Bezos was handed to him by his parents to start hawking books out of their upper middle class home garage. The plot also uses a conservative 4% investment growth that is typically used for conservative retirement planning. Under all of these scenarios, and even after 100 years no one becomes a billionaire. The one with the largest beginning principal grows the fastest and reaches over $50 million. Still, that is only one twentieth of a billionaire.

Now, hourly wage leading to billionaire status is ridiculous, and many realize this. But the comparison is necessary for those who don't understand that a billionaire is equivalent to a thousand millionaires.
But some on Next Door ridiculed me, calling me unintelligent for not knowing that billionaires are made from smart investment and not hard work. They kind of proved my original point, but I decided to show them how ridiculous their defense of the billionaires was:

Here is another take using hourly wage, dispelling the myth that one simply has to work hard to become a billionaire. This shows that, if you started at age 15 working 72 hours per week with no vacation and no expenditures (i.e. laughingly simplistic) for ONLY $4200 per hour, you wouldn't become a billionaire until age 75! What a life!
Thus it is clear - hard work alone cannot make a billionaire.

I have been playing around with anti billionaire posts on Next Door. I am amazed by how many bootlickers there are.
I started by making graphs showing how impossibly rich billionaires are. Here is one relating being a billionaire to hourly wages, which most people understand:

The cardboard worked! But I left one glass for my wife to figure out. Made a slight mess as the thickness of the cardboard was not 0; paper would be thinner but I was afraid it would disintegrate.

I got her back, thanks to the water on the ceiling trick! H/T to @Jeffrey ! At the moment she is still holding the bowl on the ceiling, but the dog, who was basically howling at this abnormality in his life and jumping on her, has finally calmed down.

I look forward to this time of year - the fragrant blooming of confederate star jasmine. It seems like it is earlier every year, even this year which was a cold winter for us. I always remember these fragrant blooms starting in April. This year I first smelled them on March 27!
