Ok, I'm gen-x so I'm not 'in-the-know'; so this is a question for Millennials and Zs, is there a movie that was both impactful to the general culture and felt like it was a breath of fresh air for you in your childhood? Bonus points if it's a teen comedy that isn't farce?

Also bonus, bonus points if any Alphas know of a similar for your current media moments?

Trump threatening to end a civilization isn't a new novel thing. US presidents have commited genocides and atrocities throughout our history, we're just not taught it (or taught the myth version, which to be clear - are lies).

We're built on atrocities and genocide. The reason people are clutching their pearls over trump threatening Iran is because he shoved their faces in it.

It's fine if it's over there, unspoken in polite company. Ignoring (white/rich) crimes is as American as apple pie.

Sometimes I'm seriously struck by how easy it was to kill all of humanity by arguing over definitions.

49 states have 'at will employment' meaning unless you have a union, which is ~not~ 90% of us, we can be fired just for saying we're sick. (yeah, it's wrongful firing - sure sue them. Tell me how rent gets paid while paying for a lawyer?)

The struggle isn't even to explain sick leave is a terrible racket, half (at least) of the US labor force doesn't even have sick leave or use it if we do!

The USSR's Venera photos were something emotionally powerful for me as a kid. I'm not even able to explain it now, but we only have images from three probes of the planet surface.
That's it.
The place is so absolutely extreme, so dangerous, that it devoured the probes in the span of minutes to hours.
We talk about Mars being Earth-like, but it's not. It's abysmally not. Venus is Earth-like, but utterly hostile to all life, and anything we could throw at it.
