@fesshole@mastodon.social I grew up in Teesside. At university I would patiently try and explain to people I met from Cheshire, Liverpool and the so called North West, that they lived in the Midlands. They wouldn't have it. Deluded.

The company I work for has "point of sales" machines, which in the documentation get abbreviated to "POS". When I am read the docs, in my head I always automatically translate that abbreviation to something else. I must have spent far too much time on the Internet.

@anon_opin@mastodon.social I once worked for a company that was very proud of winning a category of the British Travl Awards every year. Coincidentally, they also always paid for two tables at the awards ceremony dinner at £10,000 each.

He tips them over (onto a wooden frame he has custom built in the back of his van, allowing two bins to lie, side by side), blasts them with a jet washer for three seconds and is soon on his way. It fascinates me for two reasons. 1. My neighbours are so concerned about their bin hygiene, that they'll pay someone to wash them out every week. I find this unrelatable. As long as my bins don't smell, I am unconcerned about how clean they are inside. 2. There are so many people like my neighbours, that there is a bloke with a white van able to make a living from doing this. I find this unfathomable. Am I the strange one? How many other people are happy spending money on having their bins washed every week.

I've been watching How To Get To Heaven From Belfast. At first I was a bit disappointed because I'd wrongly assumed it would be a straight up comedy like Derry Girls. Then I was getting a bit put off because some it was was a bit too daft. Just finished watching episode 6 and I am cursing that I need to go to bed because I've work in the morning. I need to know what happens next.

@fesshole@mastodon.social I worked in a small town pizza / kebab / burger shop when I was at 6th form. Every weekend you'd get to shout out "69" to a shop full of beered up locals who would all give a massive cheer. Highlight of a dull job.
