Sure, training data comes from the Internet, but the actual data science is all about finding ways to remove garbage and keep good samples.
Letting the GPUs cook is really just an engineering exercise. The science has already been done at that point.

There are several layers to "belief" I've found:
1. I like donuts and coffee and all my friends show up for Sunday services
2. My mom told me so and the strife in my life if I doubted it isn't worth it
3. There are some things we don't yet know, but this explanation helps
4. I am controlled by my fear
5. Yes, my children, you do good if you pay me your money and vote like I tell you to!
I'm sure there's more.
