I think if you would have asked people a few years ago, they'd have said that twitch streamers live reacting cities being shelled would be dystopian.

@quad@akko.quad.moe Think over here, most schools and a lot of the government is reliant on them. The amount of money they must rake in from office 365 subscriptions alone must be insane, but I wouldn't be shocked if we were also in the billions.

m*crosoft's involvement in the school system will only worsen this. School-provided laptops will likely be their only experience with something that's not a smartphone and they be presented to children as locked-down pieces of shit owned and operated by someone else. Even if they do take an interest in computers, any learning will be taking place in m*crosoft's walled garden.

@sun@shitposter.world @coolboymew@shitposter.world Age range is probably the category advertisers care about the most, so naturally meta would want to force a more reliable way to infer it when they're entire business model is selling target ads.

@dictatordave@poa.st @coolboymew@shitposter.world It's not like meta give a fuck about obeying data collection laws. Big tech firms get fined for that shit every other year and keep doing it anyway. It is literally more profitable for them to pay the fine and keep doing it.
This regulation just lets them creep further up the tech stack.

@coolboymew@shitposter.world It makes sense, the whole "age brackets" thing struck me as something only an advertiser would be interested in. If you really cared about making sure kids can't see a tit

@coolboymew@shitposter.world A lot of these companies are already in bed with the surveillance sector so it's likely not even going to change. Three letter agencies LOVE having a means to dodge laws like the fourth ammendment. It's not unlawful search and seizure if google's just wiretapping you as part of their business model. Sickening.

If you really cared about making sure kids can't see a titty, why would you care whether they were 12 or 15?This is just a mechanism they can use to fingerprint children and doxx adults.
Big data is a cartel at this point and they can and will make it illegal to avoid them.

Finally managed to get forgejo set up again on my new NAS (this time with HTTPS, wew). I suppose the good thing about git is that it's borderline impossible to suffer any meaningful data loss if your remote shits the bed.
Actually debating putting the CI runners on a separate baremetal machine instead of faffing about with d*cker. I have the hardware for it, plus a case that's been collecting dust under a table since december.
