Centuries-old heritage sites.

These are the latest targets in the illegal US-Israeli assault on Iran. These are not military bases, they are the civilian infrastructure that keeps ordinary people alive. More than 1,300 people have already been killed since the attacks began, and nearly 6,700 civilian sites have reportedly been struck.

This war has nothing to do with democracy — or even nuclear weapons. Canada must have no part in it and Prime Minister Carney must use every ounce of his influence to put a stop to it.

PM Carney: you can and must categorically rule out participation in this illegal war.

Your unqualified support of Trump and Netanyahu’s war was bad enough. It’s unconscionable that you’re now considering putting Canadian forces in harm’s way.

And worse: hundreds of civilians have already been killed in the all-out bombardment of dense urban areas like Tehran.

Danielle Smith’s address was a chilling moment that recalls some of the ugliest anti-immigration chapters of our country’s history.

This is what demagogues do: pit the public against the most vulnerable and blame them for the very crises their austerity policies have created.

Shaye and Annie were part of the historic 2015 NDP victory for Rachel Notley in Alberta, overcoming a 40+ year PC dynasty.

Shaye served as Minister of Municipal Affairs and Annie as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Education. Their government raised the minimum wage to what was then the highest in Canada, made it easier for workers to form a union, and took big money out of provincial politics.

Tonight I’m thinking of the people of Tumbler Ridge, the survivors, and all of the families who are grieving the loss of a loved one.

Heartbroken for this community that is going through the unimaginable.

Trump is fuelling a humanitarian crisis in Cuba, with an oil blockade that is leading to devastating power outages and rationing. This administration is determined to dominate the hemisphere with brute force and naked impunity.

Canada has a long history of good relations with Cuba. We have consistently voted at the UN to end the blockade of Cuba, and millions of Canadian tourists have visited the island.

We should immediately follow Mexico’s lead and condemn this act of economic warfare. Laura Mae was the inaugural chair of the Ontario NDP’s Black Caucus, the first formal caucus of its kind in Ontario history. In this role and as the party’s anti-racism critic, she was a powerful advocate in addressing anti-Black and all forms of racism, including by introducing a groundbreaking Racial Equity in Education Systems Act.

Organizing works! This is a win for public pressure, and a message about the moral clarity Canadians want from politics right now.

Now we need legislation to ban all Canadian companies from contracting with ICE or otherwise supporting Trump's kidnapping and deportation machine. And Parliament must pass Jenny Kwan's bill to close the U.S. arms export loophole – so that no Canadian armoured vehicles, weapons, or equipment end up in the hands of ICE to brutalize people.
