On one hand I almost died snowblowing today. On the other hand my calorie counting app gave me almost a whole fourth meal for all the extra calories I burned.
I did hurt my wrist somehow while snow blowing and it means I couldn’t use a computer most of the day. Hope it’s better tomorrow.

I know there’s a good chance I’ll get hate for this, but the world isn’t straight forward and the answers are often nuanced.
And I fully agree something needs to change, but part of it is the institutions not just cops.
For example, we need to abolish private prisons. Imprisoning people should not be profitable for anyone.

Every time I see the ACAB people bitch about cops or people say defund the police, I kinda agree, but getting rid of police completely isn’t the answer.
I’m honestly more and more convinced we need to give cops less money and then put that money into like a new social worker force or something. A group who is supported by police in dangerous situations, but are there to help people instead of just incarcerate them.
And there are good cops. We need more of those.

I keep wondering where AV1 will be 5 years from now. One reason h264 is still so good is because the encoders (such as libx264) have been optimized to hell and back.
An optimized AV1 is coming. It seems to have enough support that people will work on it.

I'm so happy AV1 has taken off the way it has. I've been watching that project since before it was called AV1. With things like Thor and Daala before it all got rolled into AV1.
I'm so happy we have a new, good, exciting, competitive open codec. Yes it's not perfect (it takes a lot of CPU to decode it sometimes), but it's a step forward since we've been pretty much stuck on h264 forever and I'd rather we didn't move to another proprietary codec like h265.

@CompilerBreak@gamepad.club it’s entirely possible there isn’t an update for the new cards? I read this as there’s separate code in the driver for the old cards? Which means they could release an update that doesn’t touch that old card code?
