Just heard about a new opera being performed by die Hamburgische Staatsoper, lampooning Donald Trump. It would be really funny if they showed it at the Kennedy Center now that Trump plastered his name on the building.

I've included a link to one use - the catch is that in this case it is being used to speed up a specific design process and the end result will, of course, be carefully checked. Let's just say that this is not what ICE seems to be doing.

@mattblaze@federate.social Not sure if this technically qualifies as perfidy because that might apply only to warfare (the possibly erroneous impression I got from the Wikipedia page). While I wouldn't want low level people punished because they couldn't afford to have a lawyer on retainer, people higher in the chain of command are a different story. Let's have a full investigation, particularly of Hegseth, and forward all the evidence to the ICC. A Trump pardon doesn't apply outside the U.S.

@mattblaze@federate.social I saw a news clip of it earlier today. A friend mentioned that a turn signal was on at one point, so the victim may have been trying to make a left turn or U turn, then saw masked ICE agents, and panicked. With only a few seconds, someone who was scared could have confused ICE with carjackers. We need a full investigation - not only for what happened but also for ICE training and hiring practices.

@mattblaze@federate.social What a story, and glad that no one was hurt. Not only should someone in that situation ask for a lawyer, but he should also ask the lawyer to write up some NDAs. Getting plans for explosives from a video game is something I'd have thought was too crazy for even a Hollywood movie, but I guess not.

@mattblaze@federate.social One might want to read up on Richard Feynman's safe cracking while he was working at Los Alamos during WW-II. He found that, if a safe was open and you fiddled with the knob on the lock, you could read the combination off of it - at least enough to make opening it trivial.

@mattblaze@federate.social I'm not shocked - Trump is a real-estate guy. You know: "Oh those? Just termites. Everyone has them. It's nothing to worry about." Some of them will say anything to make a sale. I once had one add up various items so I'd know what a house would cost. He went off to get some documents, so I pulled out a calculator and double checked it - twice due to getting a different number. His excuse? "The batteries are low," not "I must have made a mistake."

@mattblaze@federate.social I just got a letter that read like a Nigerian scam but was addressed to me by name with my address on it, plus it was delivered by the U.S. Post Office. They are probably targeting people based on leaked data (age, etc.). I think it was the "wealthy relative" with no known heirs scam, where they'll send you a check for a million dollars and you use a wire transfer to send back $100K, leaving you holding the bag when the check bounces.
