Spencer Wood from the Outdoor Recreation & Data Lab at the University of Washington (UW) joins DGL as a visiting fellow this academic spring term 👋

Spencer brings with him significant interdisciplinary research experience, including expertise computational research on outdoor recreation and nature-based tourism.

The popularity of outdoor recreation in Finland is growing and the ways
people move in nature are diversifying.

Together with Metsähallitus Parks and Wildlife Services we propose operationalizing the use of mobile big data for visitor monitoring and the management of outdoor recreation.

Our policy recommendations draw on our long-term research using digital footprints to understand recreation and nature conservation.

📢 GREENTRAVEL VR Technical Report Released!

🌳 🚴 🌳In GREENTRAVEL, we developed an in-house VR system to conduct VR cycling experiments into the wellbeing effects of urban street greenery during everyday cycling activities. We learnt a lot, documented the process in detail and now release that documentation openly for all.
