the neat thing about fucking up daytime shade exposure on sony a7v by keeping it at, say iso 250 is i can pull an absurd amount of stops of detail out of the underexposed shadows, because it is also reading out at iso 1000. it’s like i didn’t even underexpose

i think i’m probably ready to try manual exposure. i was already doing aperture priority, setting minimum shutter speed, using EC, and targeting an iso range. a quirk of sony cameras is they boot up at the top of the iso range and progressively meter down until exposure is correct. i have it set to auto sleep after a few minutes and wake on pressing the shutter. so sometimes i’d get an almost completely white photo. and now that flash (ttl metered) is entering the mix, it feels like it’s time
