#FDroid website is not redirecting a link correctly, hence the big blue button that new or returning users use to get F-Droid Client is not working.

The link now contains the page locale and that trips it. We are working on a fix, in the mean time, feel free to remove the `/en` (or your own locale) from the link and retry.

#FDroid has a board, old news, time goes by, we get busy with the apps, the client, the repo, the server, the imminent danger, the #FOSDEM, and terms come to an end.

We seek an enthusiastic, collaborative and diverse board that can support our community as effectively as possible.

Nominations are now open to select up to four volunteer directors to serve for two years each.

Not sure where #Google asked for feedback about their developer verification program, but they surely didn't talk with #FLOSS devs, civil society, privacy organisations or their #Android users #FDroid did since September, and interacted with folks in the Fediverse, forum, email and in person They all voiced one opinion: "developer verification must be stopped" @marcprux@mastodon.social has written an open letter, signed by likeminded organisations who want to #keepandroidopen Click: https://f-droid.org/2026/02/24/open-letter-opposing-developer-verification.html

The #FDroid website has a new banner on top to remind visitors that #Google did not change course and #Android will be locked-down in under 200 days.

#FDroid prides itself with all the measures it takes not only to host great privacy respecting apps but also having a great client that's under the user control. The whole software ecosystem is built to be #decentralized, with multiple clients, repos and mirrors. This means we don't have visibility into how users chose to connect to our servers, be it directly, via a proxy, via Tor or some VPN.

#IPFS adds up on top of these, and we'd like to know: How do you feel about IPFS in F-Droid Client?

Just in time, the #EUCommission has opened a public consultation on the revision of the #DMA effectiveness, with a deadline for Sept 24.

It's a great occasion to propose actual adjustments to the DMA text, like some to tackle the pre-install advantage, the systematic blocks of #Google Play Protect/Play Integrity, etc.

We believe we can achieve stronger impact if the Commission receives this kind of suggestions from many fronts, and not just from #FDroid.

We're very happy to announce that our volunteer sys-admin crew finally set up IPv6 support. It's roughly 15% faster than legacy IP and mobile networks are often IPv6 native, so phones don't have to go through IPv4 translation anymore to reach https://f-droid.org
