And a lot of people (me included) already own Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Pixelmator Pro on Mac.
Making then subscription only would have gone down like a fart in an elevator.
Subscription fatigue is real.

There was a version on Rhapsody/OSX that had the Classic Mac UI. I don’t think it shipped as a general release. I think the first official release had Aqua.
