@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange Working at an ISP, we once moved to a shiny new office they'd hooked up to the UPS of the data center down the street. The capacity not being that great, they had red outlets "for the important stuff" and grey ones for everything else. When a transformer blew up and plunged most of the city into darkness, all the routers and workstations turned off and only the printers, the fax and the pump for a colleague's desktop fountain stayed on. Turned out they'd wired it the other way round and nobody ever tested.

@mattblaze@federate.social I still have that deep-seated hate from a childhood next to a hospital that was a popular land mark for jet pilots training low altitude flight. For some time at kindergarten age I actually thought "asshole" was the technical term for these planes as it was the only situation where that word was liberally used at home. I still think it *should* be, metonymically for everybody involved.
