@lapcatsoftware@mastodon.social Even with more context (which I only stripped for readability), that’s exactly reflective of what Gold is saying! “He knows the consensus. He knows it’s probably not the right tool for everything he wants to do. He has decided he’ll be fine.”
What am I missing here?
@lapcatsoftware@mastodon.social I don’t think it’s a straw man argument at all. The ZDNet review (the first of the ones you linked to) concludes “Ultimately, the Neo is worth it only if you're committed to using it for what it's designed for: everyday tasks, internet browsing, media, and iPhone integrations”, which is basically Gold’s thesis.
People can and should be able to find the limits. The most damning paragraph is the one about Blender on Chromebooks, which reflects the difference between user control and top-down app policy.
“After a dramatic season opener in Melbourne, Formula 1 heads east to Shanghai…” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=di-w1ZxUuH4
Now I don’t want to nitpick but…
Is there a clever way (maybe a smart album) to see which images in Photos are stored only as low-resolution thumbnails? De-selecting iCloud Photos in Settings throws this error despite having “Download Originals” turned on for years, and no other related errors are present.
Maybe this is just a quirky thing with my car, but wireless CarPlay and plugging in my phone to charge means audio doesn’t play, so that’s neat.
I was trying to get home to Calgary yesterday from Edmonton and I told Siri to “get me directions home”. It had updated what it thinks of as my home to the hotel’s address, even though my home address is in my contact card as “home”. Fifteen years of this.
@dmoren@zeppelin.flights Thanks for the link though, to be clear, when I write about the Studio Display’s firmware, I’m relaying the complaints of others (https://mjtsai.com/blog/2022/07/28/studio-display-audio-issues/ and https://wadetregaskis.com/studio-display-xdr-vs-pro-display-xdr/).
I don’t have experience with one and these issues have made me wary. But, if you are saying it’s been reliable for you, that’s making me less worried about possibly buying one!
