I'm a mathematician at UNAM in Mexico City. I work in algebraic topology, homotopy theory and higher category theory, but am interested in all sorts of math. I also enjoy computer programming as a hobby and am a big fan of the text editor Emacs.

Several times a fellow chilango¹ has told me they don't like burritos, only for me to learn upon further inquiry, that they have only had them in the US², and then I have to tell them not to knock burritos until they tried them in Chihuahua or Sonora! It seems that here in Mexico City plenty of people don't even know burritos are a normal (and great!) food item in certain parts of Mexico, they think of them as purely a US thing.
(Also, while the average seems pretty bad, you can of course can get good burritos in the US, at least in some parts. I've never had any in the US as that are as good as the ones in Sonora or Chihuahua, but I've had some very good ones in parts of California and New Mexico.)

¹ "Chilango" is the demonym for Mexico City.
² My friends are mostly academics, so most of them have travelled several times to the US.
