So it appears that UK citizens applying for a passport have to state whether they have another country’s passport as well, as many do. But now the UK government is endorsing that information in the passport, creating two classes of citizens. Pure British, and not quite pure..
One can only imagine what objective there is in putting this information in your passport. I will certainly make getting into some countries much more interesting.

Governments all over the world are beginning to realise that with social media they are no longer able to control the narrative. Look for increasing controls on social media and increasing attempts to censor social media content.

https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/earned-settlement it would appear there is a consultation up on proposals to change Immigration law. Instead of a transparent period of time they want to introduce subjective measures to determine how long or whether you can stay in the UK. They would seem to be wide open to abuse (how do you measure how well somebody has “integrated”?) The law should be seen to be fair.
This is neither.

Sadly I think this could be a large part of the problem. US politicians put party first and country a very poor second. So they are quite prepared to stand by and watch the moral economic and social destruction of their country simply in the hope they will win the next election. The USA is the manifestation of all that is wrong with first past the post politics. It produces acute polarisation and binary choices which do not reflect public opinion. It produces no more than vacuous confrontation

Just adding that despite the War on Tourism, Central Amsterdam on a random Saturday night in December is actually WORSE than Central Edinburgh during the Festival these days! It's totally crazycakes.

@cstross@wandering.shop only an idiot would put a cultural festival in the middle of the tourist season. Edinburgh is absolutely full before the festival opens and it’s absolutely full after the festival finishes. All the festival does is make it exponentially worse. Glasgow at least had the common sense to have Celtic Connections in the winter.
