People should think carefully about what the role of public approval is in contemporary US politics. Does it matter at all that Trump has low public approval for his war on Iran?
No one is going to stop him. The military will obey his orders. We don't need a draft so draft resistance is not a factor. We already know that protests, even comparatively massive ones (such as those in the Iraq War) will be ineffective. Our allies won't do anything.

Another defeat for the idea that US people are pretty much the same everywhere and that the old Confederacy isn't the base for the new fascism.
