@chainsaw_appreciator @SuperLutheran That was all his early stuff. Thelema was where he actually had something interesting to say. Book 4 I would argue to this day is a good deconstruction of religion in many ways. If memory serves it starts out explaining how Buddha, Mohammed and Jesus all disconnected from society in order to find enlightenment. Buddha under the bodhi tree, mohammed in his cave, jesus in his desert. And if you read the satanic bible it has a similar deconstruction with regard to people only really doing what's in their own best interests, or what feels good to them. Crowley's Book 4 is probably the bigger mind-fuck though.
