  • beautiful moon and still air when I left work

  • first good rain of the year…even heard some thunder!

  • feeling incrementally better with my respiratory infection, I think I’m finally turning the corner.

  • Henry (my cat) is snoozing peacefully on my lap.

#3GoodThings My cousin who I have not seen in years was in town, so we caught up over an extended lunch at South Branch in #Chicago. Food was great,; company was better. I organized a volunteer day with my team from work at Bernie's Book Bank. It was a lot of fun and felt like for a few hours, we made a difference. Speaking of #books, I'm super excited for a couple due out this year by fave authors: Exit Party by #EmilyStJohnMandel and Other Worlds Than These by #StephenKing. @3goodthings@a.gup.pe

Many days I need to resist the temptation to toot a series of petty frustrations. But today was definitely a #3GoodThings day! The barista gave me my morning coffee for free, I finally made it into the new Wellington library and revived my account (my card has a kākā on it!), and I knocked off early to get a massage.

#3GoodThings from yesterday 📡 I successfully carried out my first #mesh experiment - communicating with my friend @stereo@freiburg.social in Germany... some 400km away!!! It only took 6 hops - including the iconic Jungfraujoch radio relay station 🍀 I found my second 4-leaf clover in a field near a bike track - when I took my little one biking 🐑 on our way home we stumbled upon a flock of sheep - it was fascinating to see a couple of adorable Border Collies in action herding them

Three good things: -> I'm now in the pipeline for a formal autism eval in 6-12 months or so. I wasn't going to do it, feeling very satisfied with my carefully researched self-identification with some formal eval. However, the formal diagnosis may help retain my federal disability payments on medical review, as my diagnoses have evolved since getting approved decades ago. -> I'm excited but nervous about my amyloid PET scan tomorrow to see if I am indeed going down the path of early-onset Alzheimer's. -> It's a gorgeous, warm, day today! @3goodthings@fedigroups.social #3GoodThings

#3GoodThings -someone listened to me talk continuously until it was (almost) all out. It was something that was sorely, sorely needed in my off-fedi life. Thank you! -walked until my feet could no longer handle it and saw a beaver, quite close-by, while I was at it -dealt very well with the tidal wave of puddle a driver deliberately sent my way. Child's play. I'd rather be me than him.

I always wanted to try this best # #3goodthings thing, and for #today, I may have found em 1) lunchin munchin' outside in the summer like day in the shade of my Pin-oak tree. 2) A nice nap in my hammock after stiffing myself with so much lunch. 3) a glass of wine later to unwind from my busy day of sitting n bssking in this lovely sunny day.

  1. Had a nice family meal at the village restaurant
  2. Drank a nice bottle of wine

Three good things for today: 4/8/2026

  1. Chilling on the patio after yard work.
  2. The buzz from the bees 🐝 swarming the flowers in the maple trees and redbud trees.
  3. Yard stuff: lawn mowed, water for the sprinklers turned on, herbicide sprayed, sticks picked up, etc.

Today’s exercise: About 2 hrs of yard work.

  • One more sleep to Adventure and my bags are packed and waiting by the door!
  • Carry-on bag arrived on time this afternoon and is everything I needed.
  • Except the backpack slide buckle was sewn on wrong and the strap doesn’t tighten. It was too late to return it, so I sewed it in place. I reported the issue and LL Bean still refunded me the full price without a return.

  1. I had two beers last night that were got for me half a week ago but I hadn’t had time to drink. Today I’m off work, so last night I had them! Yum
  2. I’m planning to go to the cinema with my daughter tonight
  3. I ate lindt truffles in bed last night, watching old episodes of Scrubs

Free good fings heddiw

  1. long story but I had a spare clean water bottle on Sunday’s audax and gifted it at the first control to someone who’d forgotten theirs, and today I received a brand new replacement from them.

  2. booked travel for Chase The Sun in June, engineering works on the WCML, couldn’t take a bike on a replacement bus, so it’s G-E and then back down the ECML. And £20 cheaper.

  3. they argue and antagonise but when all 3 children are back it feels like home.
