Il Fatto Quotidiano: Obama accusa Trump (senza mai citarlo): “Ogni giorno ci svegliamo con un nuovo assalto alle nostre istituzioni democratiche”
“Viviamo in un momento in cui può essere difficile avere speranza, ogni giorno ci svegliamo con un nuovo assalto alle nostre istituzioni democratiche, un altro colpo allo stato di diritto, un’offesa al senso di decenza”. Nell’orazione funebre per il reverendo Jesse Jackson, Barack Obama lancia una durissima critica a Donald Trump e la sua amministrazione, senza pronunciare direttamente il nome del presidente.
“A ogni risveglio vediamo cose che non pensavamo possibili, ogni giorno ci viene detto da chi è in alto di temerci e attaccarci gli uni con gli altri e che alcuni americani contano più degli altri e che qualcuno non conta per niente” ha continuato l’ex presidente che, insieme agli altri ex presidenti democratici, Bill Clinton e Joe Biden, ha presenziato le esequie a Chicago del leader del movimento per i diritti civili morto il mese scorso a 84 anni. “Ovunque vediamo che avidità e intolleranza vengono celebrate, insieme a bullismo e prese in giro mascherati da forza”, ha detto ancora Obama, riferendosi evidentemente all’era della seconda presidenza Trump. L’ex presidente ha comunque concluso con un messaggio di speranza, guardando proprio all’esempio di Jackson che “ci ispirato a scegliere la via difficile, la sua voce ci chiama tutti a essere messaggeri di cambiamento e speranza”.

We live in a moment in which it can be difficult to have hope, every day we wake up with a new assault on our democratic institutions, another blow to the rule of law, an offense to the sense of decency. In the funeral oration for Reverend Jesse Jackson, Barack Obama launches a harsh criticism of Donald Trump and his administration, without directly naming the president. “With every awakening we see things that we did not think possible, every day we are told by those in power to fear and attack each other and that some Americans count more than others and that someone counts for nothing,” continued the former president, who, along with other former Democratic presidents, Bill Clinton and Joe Biden, attended the funeral in Chicago of the leader of the civil rights movement, who died last month at the age of 84. “Wherever we look, we see greed and intolerance celebrated, along with bullying and ridicule disguised as strength,” Obama said, clearly referring to the era of the second Trump presidency.
