Added some particle effects for when you draw. I'm also still noodling on how I want to use drawing as a game mechanic. I feel like there's something fun there, but so far the thing that sticks out to me is connecting things together like electrical circuits (hence the spark particles). But is that it? Are there other things you should be able to do? Still figuring that out but at least I have one good idea so far, and it looks pretty cool too. #godot #gamedev #indiedev

Refactored the save/progress system again. Hopefully for the last time? I realized it would be necessary when I started making an actual mission in a level. Instead of developing a rigid "each mission only has these specific states and all missions must fit in that structure" I'm going with a more loosey-goosey, but *contained* structure where each level has its own data and logic scripts. That way I can have an arbitrary number of tracking variables like "has_talked_to_character_abc" or "has_done_thing_xyz". And more importantly, I can easily reference those in the dialogue scripts like in this screenshot. Main.gamestate holds the universal stuff, but Main.gamestate.data holds the individual level data which can be whatever. It might be a little convoluted, but the complexity shouldn't actually get that bad since I can contain it all within an individual level. #godot #gamedev #indiedev

Random #godot PSA for those who didn't know (like me): You can easily add timed sounds (or anything else) to an animation imported from Blender if you just enable Save to File and check Keep Custom Tracks in the import window.

Working on a mission and objective system for my 3D platformer, so it's easier to put together challenges that share common things like reaching areas, collecting a number of things, defeating a group of enemies, etc. #godot #gamedev #indiedev
