The U.S. Geological Survey reported a magnitude 5.8 earthquake with an epicenter in the Jorm district of Badakhshan province. The agency stated that the earthquake's depth was recorded at 186 kilometers. Earlier, Kabul and several provinces of the country experienced a relatively strong earthquake. The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Nuruddin Azizi, held discussions with the Governor of Uzbekistan's Namangan region, Shukhrat Abduraimov, and his delegation regarding the development and strengthening of trade and economic relations between Kabul and Tashkent. During the meeting, the Governor of Namangan provided information about the capabilities of the region's business community in the production and industrial sectors. He discussed joint ventures in pharmaceutical production and exports, poultry farming and training, joint investment in Afghanistan's precious and semi-precious stone sector, agricultural machinery and irrigation systems, and cooperation in that area. Meanwhile, the Minister of Industry and Commerce expressed readiness to prepare a joint market for the products and goods of both countries in collaboration with Uzbekistan. He stated that Afghanistan's private sector is committed to joint ventures in the construction of refrigerated warehouses, agricultural and medical product factories in Uzbekistan's provinces. The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate, Mullah Amir Khan Muttaqi, spoke by telephone with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, regarding bilateral relations, the regional situation, and the recent tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan. In a press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Minister of Foreign Affairs thanked the United Arab Emirates for its successful mediation in the release of American prisoners in Afghanistan and added that remaining issues should be resolved through bilateral relations and dialogue. He also, referring to the situation between Afghanistan and Pakistan, stated that the Islamic Emirate wants to resolve problems with Pakistan through dialogue. Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates called relations between Afghanistan and the United States important and expressed readiness to continue its positive role in this area. A high-level joint delegation from Uzbekistan’s state and private sectors, led by Governor Abdulrazakov of the Namangan province, has arrived in Kabul to boost trade between the two countries and explore investment opportunities in Afghanistan. According to a press release from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Islamic Emirate, the delegation, which includes the Deputy Governors of Namangan province and more than 30 of the province's largest traders and investors, will participate in trade talks in addition to meetings with officials of the Islamic Emirate. The ministry stated that the delegation from Uzbekistan is also scheduled to travel to Balkh province and hold meetings with local officials and members of the private sector there. Herat's local officials have stated that the process has officially begun allowing Iranian transit vehicles to enter the province without visas or transit passes. Herat's governor's spokesperson, Mohammad Yusuf Saeedi, told the media that Iranian transit vehicles can unload their goods at a designated location in the Islam Qala border crossing without a visa. U.S. President Donald Trump has once again criticized NATO's role against Iran and threatened that the United States might withdraw from the alliance. Trump called NATO's lack of cooperation against Iran a serious mistake yesterday and added that the United States should not remain in an organization that does not help them. Trump again mentioned the hundreds of billions of dollars in annual costs that the United States provides for NATO, but also stated that leaving the organization could bring significant financial benefits to the United States. Trump said in a warning tone that the United States has always been ready to support NATO, but now, considering the organization's behavior, Washington does not see a need to continue these collaborations. The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation of Afghanistan has announced that 20,222 transport vehicles had GPS devices installed in the past 1404 solar year. The ministry stated that to date, approximately 40,000 passenger and cargo vehicles across the country have had GPS devices installed in total.
