China's renewable energy expansion has reached staggering scale. In 2023 alone, the country added 216 GW of solar capacity — more than the total ever installed in the United States. Wind added another 100 GW. Total renewable capacity now exceeds 1.5 TW. For comparison, the entire US power grid (all sources) stands at approximately 1.2 TW. This is driven by energy security needs, market dominance (China controls 80% of solar supply chains), and economics. Solar prices have fallen 90% in a decade, making it the cheapest energy source in history. The challenge now is transmission. China is building ultra-high-voltage lines and massive battery storage to move power from western deserts to eastern industrial centers. For investors: grid infrastructure, copper, lithium, and rare earth metals are the strategic assets of the coming decade. #China #Renewables #Solar #EnergyTransition #Investing #Grid https://vir.group/

#IranWar #iran #oil #renewableenergy #renewables #trump Congratulations!! Inflation coming!! “Oil prices rose sharply Monday as disruptions to tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz raised uncertainty about how U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran would affect supply to the world economy. U.S. oil traded 7.6% higher at $72.12 per barrel, while international standard Brent was up 8.6% at $79.11 per barrel. Natural gas futures in Europe jumped more than 40% after Qatar, a major supplier, halted production due to the conflict. Higher oil prices raise the prospect of costlier gasoline for U.S. drivers as well as increased prices for other goods at a time when people in many countries have been stung by inflation.” https://apnews.com/article/oil-prices-iran-us-hormuz-tanker-8a6d6fb35c89d9b0db4c4846f290c2c3

@Geri@mastodon.online Article on Cuba’s efforts to more quickly transition to renewable energy, which would make them less vulnerable to oil embargoes as a geopolitical weapon: https://cpusaky.org/2026/02/23/cuba-resists-sovereignty-under-the-boot-of-u-s-imperialism/ #cuba #renewables #RenewableEnergy #WindPower #solar #photovoltaics #CubaLibre #EnergyIndependence #CleanEnergy

@Petesmom@kolektiva.social @Geri@mastodon.online China is stepping up, investing in transmission lines to carry electricity from wind farms AND helping build solar capacity. Need a lot of new installations, both for non-fossil production and storage. But Trump’s weaponization of oil is accelerating transition. #CleanEnergy #renewables #solar #WindPower #cuba https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2026/feb/18/us-sanctions-power-cuts-climate-crisis-why-cuba-is-betting-on-renewables

In the United Kingdom, greenhouse gas emissions fell 3% in 2024 compared to the year prior as the country got more power from renewables, imported more electricity, and closed its last coal power plant #uk #Britain #climate #ClimateChange #renewables #environment #earth #electricity https://www.independent.co.uk/climate-change/news/pollution-government-b2914556.html

Good morning! It's solar install day here at #DisOldHouse. Feels pretty silly to be putting solar up top when the interior renovation isn't done and we still don't have a kitchen. We're not even sure if we'll stay here long term. AND we're two months late for amazing tax credits. Terrible timing all around, but it's an act of resistance, and it feels amazing. #Solar #Resist #Renewables

#windpower #renewables Mind blowing that one new wind turbine can produce so much power compared to the old ones. @adapalmer@wandering.shop https://wandering.shop/@adapalmer/115996683272733529

Bravo @TechConnectify@mas.to for a video that possibly is better than his dishwasher series. Thank you for speaking truth to power. As my own province faces US interference in a psy op of separatism, this Canadian born in Alberta stands with you. #canpoli #cdnpoli #ableg #abpoli #ClimateChange #renewables #uspol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtQ9nt2ZeGM

You will either be disappointed (or perhaps relieved) to know that across the EU, there is a similar problem of building energy interconnection capacity for renewables as there is in the UK. While both in the UK & EU renewable energy projects can expand (and have expanded) generating capacity, getting that energy to where it is needed continues to be constrained by access to energy distribution networks. Renewables are about more than generation! #renewables #energy #environment h/t FT
