Last night the rabbits went to town on our #CrocusLawn. I thought things looked off this morning, but brushed it off. It's been nagging on me all day so I did a screenshot comparison from our security

I happened to have six handy panels for another project on hand. So after work I enjoyed the beautiful weather and chopped them up into three ~2ft x ~4ft sections, taking care to leave some cut wire p

As I spent too much time making my mockup I realized I likely would have been better off had I went horizontally as shown here. I really don’t think our local bunnies are likely to jump an 18 inch fen

Last night well after sunset I got the temporary modular fence installed to protect the #CrocusLawn #BulbLawn from the rabbits. The holes are too big, I’ll fix that with chicken wire backing. Seems to have had a bit of deterrent last night. Third photo is another crocus lawn in our neighborhood I spotted today. Crazy how far behind first years are from established. Same thing happened at the old place. #KC #Missouri #Crocus #Gardening #Zone6B

I happened to have six handy panels for another project on hand. So after work I enjoyed the beautiful weather and chopped them up into three ~2ft x ~4ft sections, taking care to leave some cut wire protrusions to press into the ground like built in stakes. #CrocusLawn #BulbLawn #KC #Missouri #Crocus #Gardening #Zone6B

Last night the rabbits went to town on our #CrocusLawn. I thought things looked off this morning, but brushed it off. It's been nagging on me all day so I did a screenshot comparison from our security cameras... Nothing less than a massacre. An army of pests creeping in the night doing their dirty deeds. Crocus aren't native. And we Naturalists like to say, if something's not eating your stuff, then it's not part of the ecosystem. But I'm not willing to sacrifice 100% to feed an insatiable overpopulation w/ little predator pressure here in the 'burbs. This means war. #BulbLawn #KC #Missouri #Crocus #Gardening #Zone6B

It was only 18° (f) when I decided to finish shoveling compost this morning. Turns out, it’s hard as hell when it’s frozen. Also yesterday me was a super jerk to today me for not just getting it done. But now I have my trailer back, yay! Stuff needs tending to. #MacJohnsonFarm #DisOldHouse #Gardening #Zone6B

#CrocusLawn update! We drove by our old place and that yard is COVERED in the first wave of blooms. It’s the third year over there, I think. I got super sad on my way home, but was greeted by a few first day blooms here. First year is rough. And the pest pressure is higher in this neighborhood. 🫤 Yellows bloom first. These are #CrocusRomance and a generic “yellow crocus” #BulbLawn #DisOldHouse #Gardening #Zone6B

#gardening report: sowed arugulas, kales, collards today. Still 2-3 ft snow outside and no signs of a big thaw. Wanted to go prune raspberries but that will have to wait. #spring #zone6b

We spent most of the day on outdoor tasks from our Autumn to-do list. 👀 Many of the trees and shrubs we ordered before Grandpa passed survived the winter, despite the odds: Last year, we ran out of pots, soil, and time, so some were planted multiple per 6 inch pot. 😬 We’re excited to start fresh with our gardens. #DIY #Gardening #DisOldHouse #Zone6B
