I deactivated Google Play on my phone. The electricity company app was the first to be bricked. 'You must update.'
I wrote to them: ’I don’t have Google or Apple. Where else can I update the app?’ Nowhere else, they replied.
I wrote (politely) back: ’I can’t use your app any more then. It’s an odd requirement to make of your customers. A Norlys customer can only access all Norlys services if they are also a customer of one of two specific private for-profit US companies.’

I have things to do today that I don’t want to do so I will be procrastitooting. No time like the present to start. Here's a picture of Paddington.The smile on my face when I turned a corner and bumped into him! I thanked him for all the good books and all the marmalade sandwiches, because as a child, I refused to eat any other lunch and I always ate it while reading one of my Paddingtons even though we weren't supposed to read at the table.

During a quiet moment about 2 hours after I got to work, I thought I heard a bee trapped in the corner. I investigated and it turned out the buzzing noise was Kirsten Potter continuing to read Station Eleven to me through the earphones inside my bag. I'd forgotten to hit Stop when I arrived at the office. One disadvantage of an audiobook: you can't quickly flip back to see where you were. But I don't mind hopping way back and re-reading. It's gripping.

I’ve sent and received letters since PostNord, the Danish postal service, stopped delivering letters. The courier company’s numerical code stamped on an envelope makes me wince every time. The loss of stamps really is a loss. Those lovely miniature artworks that wandered around in our everyday world, casually celebrating literature, science, culture, space, art, nature. Gone.

This struck me as a lovely idea. A citywide book club for people who read on the bus. The Dublin Bus book club selects a book by an Irish author every six weeks.
Also a lovely idea: instead of partnering with a company like Amazon, they’ve partnered with a beloved local independent book store, Chapters, for discounted books and events for the book club members.

Perhaps it's a glitch caused by the length of the internet cable along the seafloor between Europe and the US, but I am having no problem finding video films of the US secret police executing people on the street, but every problem finding video clips of Biden, Obama, Clinton and Bush standing on the street, upholding their oath to defend their fellow citizens and the constitution.
