So, when one visits the Keep Android Open site, one of the things on the page is the attached. And, for the first time it's reached my awareness that part of #enshittification is that all of these companies have decided to become Darth Vader on Bespin ("…pray I don't alter it any further").

@bossito@mastodon.social Não deixa de ser uma trajectória descendente que já vem de há alguns anos (aliás, os blogs não foram apontados como "alternativa" ao serviço de homepages?), mas hoje parece que houve um novo episódio e um ponto mais baixo: o SAPO mandou e-mails de propaganda, que cheguei a receber em duplicado e triplicado, sobre "novas funcionalidades" e uma versão "premium" do SAPO Mail. Traduzindo aquilo que tentaram enterrar sob toneladas de marketing: vai deixar de ser possível utilizar SAPO mail com clientes de e-mail. A piada é que o SAPO chegou a ser um exemplo de óptimas escolhas tecnológicas e de bons serviços... #SAPO #enshittification

New level of enshittification unlocked. Some of the jobs I'm applying for are now adding my email from my job application to their marketing emails to buy their services. I'm noticing more often submitting a job application now requires you to accept a fucking Terms of Service before you can submit it. :blobcatangery: #enshittification #jobsearch #privacy

@pheonix@hachyderm.io I think the #Enshittification of the #Web needs to be pushed back hard. As in: If it can't use that #Website with @torproject@mastodon.social / #TorBrowser over an #Iridium connection @2400bit/s it should be illegal to put it online! Kind of harsh, IK. I'm so sick of the Enshittification that it makes me more and more "militant" in terms of #Privacy, #DataProtection, #ConsumerRights & #UserRights. This mistreatment reminds me of the Gaming Industry excl. #Valve

@semifor@ack.nerdfight.online similarly I do @OS1337@infosec.space not just as an exercise in #Linux #basics, but also as contingency plan amidst #enshittification. Cuz I can't imagine being a "#TechIlliterate #Normie" using #Govware like #Windows. I'd rather quit than do that!

Or do you also kindly ask a burglar to leave?No, you call the cops / drectly overwhelm them and force them to the ground face down to be dragged out by the cops. If I won't stand my ground, noone else will stand up for me (or the #TechIlliterates) either. #HumanRights & #CivilRights are not to be asked for but enforced!Sounds harsh, but that's my life experience…

@mach_moody@techhub.social Also the only valid reaction to #Enshittification with #Spyware / #Govware and other garbage is to flatout refuse & reject it by migrating away from #MicroSlop & Co. Otherwise silently accepting said abuse by #GAFAMs is consent to them!

@dcoderlt@ohai.social The really funny (I'd say "tragic", but fuck the commercial, #enshittification optimized Internet services — Twitter, FaceBook, etc.) is that after the adults have colonized, they don't really even need to kick the kids out. As the adults colonize, the "proprietors" tend to try to make the space more colonizer-friendly. It changes the character of the space more than just the presence of the colonizers, frequently to the point that the original patrons start removing themselves because the colonized space has become "lame" (or whatever the current-to-the-space term du jour is). Many times, the long-term result is the death of "third spaces" — be they physical or virtual (been to a mall or a pool hall lately — the ones that even still exist?). What's different in the current epoch is the desire to ensure that kids have no place to go. So, while I joked about "encouraging kids how to use non-commercial products", it also contributes to "hooliganism". When you force kids into circumvention and going underground, it also tends to foster other habits that the "won't somebody think of the children" crowd tends to dislike.

I used #Smashwords as my distribution platform for my ebooks. (I do not sell anything on Amazon.) #Draft2Digital merged with SW, and I should have known something like this would happen. I don't sell a lot--I haven't marketed in years--and I can afford the fee. But this is a sign of worse to come. Should I just sell on my website? Pelasin eilen pleikkaria kun uuden television ruutuun ilmestyi popup, joka peitti noin 1/4 ruudusta. Onneksi pelasin rauhallista peliä, joten popup ei pilannut muuta kuin hyvän mielen. @o.simardcasanova.net I dunno - so far, every social media algorithm has become part of the #Enshittification cycle, where the algorithm is eventually weaponized against users and customers. Why should this one be any different? The motivations behind entshittifcation do not change, after all.
