In addition to all of that: It really doesn't work.
As a society we are spending more and more money for software that is less predictable and reliable.
A lot of people are okay with destroying the planet for something that doesn't work reliably and most people do not want.
Anyone with at least two working brain cells should have become anti-LLM and anti-chatbot the instant they understood the concept of hallucinations.

My former employer would have us do phishing training every year; and they are pushing AI hard as well.
In the phishing training they say that a sign of a scam is trying to create a false sense of urgency. Then when they talk about AI, they say you might get "left behind."

WRT copyright: My employer (a large multi-national) requires all employees to take ethics training annually, and it makes a big deal about how ethics are so so important to the company.
Yet they are also going all-in on GenAI, which as you stated cannot exist without violating copyright.
So ethics are important, but we are betting our future on a technology made by doing things that would get an employee fired.

To be fair, there has always been speculation in stocks. Now we have high-frequency traders.
But there are still lots of people who buy stocks based on underlying financials, indexers, and people who buy stocks that consistently pay and grow their dividends.
The crypto crowd only looks at the bad parts of the stock market and thinks that is all there is to it.

My concern is not that nobody wrote the code, it is that nobody looked at it (at least it seems like they never do).
Vibe coders will say "It wrote the tests and they all passed!" How do you know the tests were any good?
Or are they just impressed with large numbers?
