@RedstoneValley@sh.itjust.works @Buffalox@lemmy.world Marie Le Conte left X and joined Bluesky ages ago. She's mostly trying to make the point to some of her fellow journalists who are ridiculously clay-footed and don't seem to have realised that they haven't "made themselves a nice little corner of X", they're just swimming in fascist waters now.

@glitchdx@lemmy.world hmm. I'll have to look into it. Most of the companies I work with are locked into office so I may be stuck with it but it'd be lovely to get rid.

@Gsus4@mander.xyz @TheBat@lemmy.world the more worrying thing is how many times it has made something up that nobody has spotted because it looks normal. Proofreading spots spelling/punctuation/formatting issues. You need a deeper copyedit, not just a scan, to check the sense of something. And that won't necessarily catch factually untrue, but perfectly plausible, things.

@NikkiDimes@lemmy.world @Wlm@lemmy.zip racism is about far more than tone. If you've trained your AI - or any kind of machine - on racist data then it will be racist. Camera viewfinders that only track white faces because they don't recognise black ones. Soap dispensers that only dispense for white hands. Diagnosis tools that only recognise rashes on white skin.

@Xenny@lemmy.world @frongt@lemmy.zip it's definitely not good for words with any technical meaning, because it creates references to journal articles and legal precedents that sound plausible but don't exist. Ultimately it's a *very* expensive replacement for the lorem ipsum generator keyboard shortcut.

@return2ozma@lemmy.world so they crash 12* more than human drivers, even though they currently *have* human drivers?! The AI makes human drivers 12* worse. Cool.

Books. The models were trained on books. And it’s terrifying that 90% of people think you’re not real if you use a semicolon correctly.

@cstross@wandering.shop our local radio station franchise (now a Heart) used to use the tagline "we don't talk all over your favourite songs" and it was *absolutely* aimed at the "press record as soon as the DJ stops talking" market (plus it meant they could leave it on a playlist when they didn't have enough DJs)
