Imagine if a power plant running on fracked gas to fuel a 7.5 GW data centre was added to the mix.

Premier Danielle Smith’s plans to double oil and gas production via data centres are hitting small town Alberta…very close to home.
The farming community of Olds, home to an agricultural college, a lot of retirees and others seeking peace and quiet, is about to become close neighbours with the second largest gas-powered plant in the province.
That’s 10 smokestacks (17 metres, 57 feet high) from a plant feeding the power needs of a massive data centre. Running 24/7 365 days per year, except when there’s an upset - and then there are 600 diesel generators ready to spring into action.
It’s a nightmare for some residents in the community who just learned details of the project in late January and are questioning the location so close to their homes.

I've been rejected several times for other AI conferences...but somehow, they are letting me listen in tomorrow and write about it.

I attended the Canada Pension Plan information session yesterday evening in Calgary. I left with more questions than answers and many concerns about how the CPP is investing the almost $800 billion now in the fund.
Are they making solid investment decisions based on facts or listening to PR/spin by wealthy executives receiving bonuses from corporations with their heads in the sand about the seriousness of climate change?
It seems like the latter.
That being said, I'm absolutely not a fan of an Alberta pension plan, which would be infinitely worse.
