#3GoodThings #ThreeGoodThings

1. We got the groceries before the rain started, which was a major goal.

2. Leftovers for lunch made my day simpler.

3. Finished reading a haunting novel from the lucky day books on Libby. It's not at all my usual genre. Picture a computer scientist who turns his back on it to go live off the grid. What Kind of Paradise by Janelle Brown.

#OTD 14 March 1955, Esstella Margaret Crispen Pitcher, age 55, died in Benton Harbor, Michigan. I have always wished that I had known this sweet sister of my grandmother. All I know of her is through the family photos and stories. Esstella had scarlet fever as a child and was fragile throughout her life. She married Henry Pitcher and they had one daughter. Henry died two years before Esstella. Both were gone too soon. https://scrappinmyhistory.blogspot.com/2018/09/a-favorite-photo-52-ancestors.html #genealogy

#OTD 12 March 1815, Anders Ersson Forss was born in the parish of Björnlunda, Södermanland. His father and brother Carl took the surname Nyström, while Anders and Lars took the name Forss. Three older siblings died in childhood. The youngest brother Lars, 20, froze to death on Anders birthday, 12 March 1844, while out in the weather. He was buried in May, so it is likely his body was not found for several weeks. Only Anders, my ancestor, and his brother Carl Nyström were left of six siblings. Both have many living descendants today.

1. Did some adulting with organizing important paperwork for whoever inherits my mess.

2. Received a paper check for the two back pension payments.

3. Sautéed some mushrooms before they went bad. They will be featured in omelettes this weekend.

#OTD 28 February 1889, Daniel Robert Duff was born in Chicago to Daniel Duff and Jennie Mitchell, a first cousin of my great-grandfather. In 1903, the family, with five children, moved to Nebraska to run a livestock business. Daniel attended the University of Nebraska and the Kansas City Veterinary College, graduating in 1914. He started his own veterinary practice, but was interrupted by WWI. He served as an Army Lt. in Europe, having spent three years in ROTC during college. He married in 1929, but the couple had no children. He died in 1964 in Norfolk, Nebraska.

It's a difficult day, but there is good to be found.

1. A beautiful, sunny and warm day.

2. The daffodils are blooming.

3. I enjoyed a couple of hours of Rick Steves travel shows about Europe. PBS is a very good thing.

#OTD 31 January 1815, Brita Kajsa Jönsdotter died just before her 14th birthday. She was the middle of three children born in Stora Malm parish, Södermanland, to a soldier who died in the Napoleonic Wars. Brita and her older brother, Pehr, my ancestor, were sent away to live in the neighboring parish of Östra Vingåker, with their aunts and uncles. Brita was the second of six children who died of measles in the parish in 1815. Sadly, her younger brother, Claes Jonas, died exactly three years later when at age 12 he was crushed by a coal cart (kolryss photo linked below). #genealogy https://jlm.kulturhotell.se/objects/c60-180219/?cat=53527&offset=2

@kateiacy@planetearth.social We so rarely get snow and are always so thrilled when we do. They are now guesstimating 1-3 inches in our area. I just hope the coastal areas don't get slammed as hard as they are predicting.

#3GoodThings #ThreeGoodThings

1. Storm prep is underway. Bought groceries, filled the gas tank and picked up prescriptions.

2. Cupcakes called to me and I caved.

3. Grabbed a lucky day book from Libby.
