I do NOT feel heard.
This just confirms how expensive and time consuming it is to collect signatures. It makes the 500,000+ signatures collected to stay in Canada in a short time even more impressive.
The time for change is at the polls, but you know that. Decrease quality of life early enough in your term and people will get used to it and you can demonize the opposition saying how much worse it could have been…even though under the NDP we got seamless public service labour negotiations and higher minimum wage…oh and a federally funded pipeline.

The majority of Albertans don't want to separate nor do we want to remain on DST…both of which the premier is pushing. I can only hope our border city will get the choice to opt into Central time like Saskatchewan have the option to surrounding communities to opt into Mountain time.
@dyckron@mstdn.ca it was only Lloyd feeder communities that chose MST.

I got an insurance payout after I was hit by a car; no tax due. When my dad died there was no tax on inheritance (his estate was taxed). Casino winning generally no taxes if you have a regular job. Canadians are soaked in USA media and often assume we are taxed on things USians are.

Perhaps more people are planning for retirement than it seems.
If you use the TFSA you are tax sheltered on withdrawal and there is no mandatory withdrawal after 71 - unlike RRSPs. It's the retirement vehicle I would suggest to someone comfortably living within their means.
I can see government concern though, if people aren't deferring taxes, it loses a revenue stream as people retire. We used RRSPs like good little Boomers/Gen X and we'll be converting to RRIFs in a higher tax bracket than we were ever in when we were working. I look at it as a mark of financial planning success and I don't resent paying taxes but I would have kept a lot more in taxable investment accounts.
