The kids wanted to make paper aeroplanes and I remembered I'd bookmarked some good instructions a while ago.

Current status: This laser cutter design has 84 holes. They all need to be 0.5mm wider.
I'm past the parameterisation stage, so I need to either start again or rezize these holes by hand.

My mum teaches a U3A French class. She asked me if I could make a thing to generate sets of dominoes for matching English words with their French equivalents.

In a normal set of dominoes, there's no distinction between the two sides, but in this, I'd like each tile to have an English word on one side and a French word on the other.

I've realised that it's not necessarily the case that a full 28-tile set (7 words, or numbers 0 to 6 in classic dominoes) will be able to form a single chain with no two words of the same language touching.

Is there a way of setting up the tiles so that happens?

This morning the littlest one and I got the second-ever train from the new Northumberland Park #NorthumberlandLine station.
We were going in to Newcastle to see the Chinese new year parade and I realised the timing worked nicely to go on his favourite train.

A number is happy if the operation of squaring all its digits and summing the squares eventually leads to 1.

e.g.
68 → 100 → 1.
69 → 117 → 51 → 26 → 40 → 16 → 37 → 58 → 89 → 145 → 42 → 20 → 4 → 16 → ...
70 → 49 → 97 → 130 → 10 → 1

So 69 is in the sequence.

I came across this great app called Aubin, "an autism friendly travel companion".

The main purpose is it's a journey planner.

You can tell it things like how much you prefer different kinds of transport, how much time you want to wait at a station, whether you'd prefer a single longer journey to having to board multiple times, and so on.

There are different colour schemes (even ones adapted for particular kinds of colourblindness!) and you can decide how delays are displayed.

And there's an "autism card" which can show some prepared text when you're having a meltdown, along with a text to speech thing and emergency contacts.

I'm so impressed.
