I have severe mental/moral/ethical dissonance when it comes to "GenAI".

I do occasionally wonder *why* it's so pronounced in that space.

After all, there's almost no area in our lives-under-capitalism that isn't build on the exploitation of others or the destruction of the planet.

The entire supply chain of the whole IT industry is ... not in a good place.

Maybe because GenAI came up after some of my blinders about the realities of the world already failed with age?

Who we build communities with is the most important choice we possibly can make. Because it will reflect in what we build.

Explicitly wanting Nazis to have hosting and subscription options though is ... well ... actually quite on brand. "For any purpose", after all. Ethics have explicitly nothing to do with it.

I find the "well when a lot of people get together, spreading infections just can't be avoided" take to be very feeble, lazy, and learned/perpetuated helplessness.

Similary, I see people push #Omarchy as if politics were irrelevant.

They are VERY MUCH relevant, and we absolutely should not give people who are "borderline far-right" (I'm not going to write what I want to write, because I can't afford those lawyers, form your own opinion and all that) more influence.

At a stretch, tech might be somewhat neutral.

Who we chose to be in a community with fucking isn't.
