The real enemy are the rich and the US is the toady for the rich and the Democrats are second-in-line toadies for the rich behind the GOP. The US has been bullying the world with the USTR for over 4 decades.
I don't see why the EU would be any closer to the US than we are and will be.

I find when Hank Green talks through some class of concepts that he is well-informed, very nuanced, and I almost always agree with his resultant take, especially when he is admitting that he is not an expert.

I'm surprised that GTS 10 is more than Mastodon 10. I'd imagine most GTS instances would be fine with Sqlite so I'd think it would be simpler to manage.

How much would it cost to provide personal GTS instances with custom domains?
I have my own domain and would be willing to pay for a hosted GTS at a reasonable cost. I'd think shared storage, RAM, CPU operational labour costs would be dwarfed by the labour costs to develop the product, but once developed those costs could be quickly amortized across many customers.
I think it's reasonable to have a separate long-form AP account that you boost from your conversational account.

Watching The Pitt S2E9 and it is striking how much the system expects individuals to compensate for failures in the system when, in fact, the system should compensate for the failures of humans, because that is the point of systems.

I use FreshRSS for storing the feed (it has all your feeds, maintains their state, both in terms of scanning and updating as well as your reading state) and use its web interface on my desktop for reading. I then run FeedMe on Android to access FreshRSS, where it syncs the feeds including their state. I use Tailscale for access since FreshRSS on a computer in the house.

This was after hitting several errors where I had to figure out which OS python package to install, including python3-setuptools, python3-toml, and pipenv.

Looking at this one, if you know what parts are heavily populated, some of the most populated parts of the country in the south of the east, including around 20 million people, are not in the zone while there are less-populated parts in the south of the west which are in the zone that nevertheless inclued almost 10 million people. A challenge to be sure.

We've had lots of psychology & behavioural economics around what Danial Kahneman called Systems 1 & 2 in his book Thinking Fast and Slow.
I also just listened to Radiolab's episode Song of the Cerebellum which suggests that there is a non-trivial amount of language embedded in the human cerebellum.
It seems to me that current AI (LLMs in particular but perhaps other techniques like stable diffusion) are examples of a cerebellum bigger than human but without a cerebrum.

I subscribe to Cory Doctorow's assessment of the current state of the world, especially in this sense.
I am also annoyed at the phrase "spicy autocomplete" & "stochastic parrot" based on its connotation (while ignorant of the originating paper).
