Whenever somebody tries to say bombs sometimes miss their targets in relation to bombing schools etc, this is the photo I will reply with. It's an Iranian naval base, thousands of miles away from any American airbase. Each building got exactly one hole punched in the roof. Modern bombs don't miss their targets, they hit exactly what they're aimed at.

@mattblaze@federate.social @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org this seems like one of those "just because you can doesn't mean you should" things. I suppose there might be some artistic merit in oversaturated, grainy as hell, and very very square photos... But maybe not?

What is it with teenage boys that they'll come into the garage, converse with you about, say, the fact that you're under the car or preparing to deadlift a transmission onto the jack, and then they turn the garage lights off as they leave? Three times in the past two days... #parenting

Had a special tool printed for some car work I'm about to do and honestly it looks more like something afraid of Pac-Man than a device to hold a ring gear stationary.

I've told my partner that if I should EVER again consider setting any part of a book in Victorian culture, she should throw things at my head until I remember how stultifying I find writing then to be. Some people have the knack and more power to them, but not me. Ugh! #AmWriting

@mattblaze@federate.social you know, it's probably your work and similar that led to a more open world of locksmithing where you have people like The Lockpicking Lawyer doing full teardowns of fancy locks on their site, where locksport continues to be a popular (if somewhat niche) pastime, and where - one hopes - physical locks continue to evolve more securely. So anyhow, thank you for publishing that paper. The people who got pissed off were just coming from an older way of thinking about things.
