Youngest child has decided they want to be referred to by a new name. Sure. They made a similar decision a couple of years ago, so whatever. But the name they've chosen is also the name of a prominent X-Men character, and I will not keep bringing this up. #Parenting

@CartyBoston@mastodon.roundpond.net A perfect parent (if such a thing could exist) would be terrible. They could never show their kids how to acknowledge and recover from mistakes. They could never model apologising ('cause they'd have nothing to apologise for). They could never show their kids that's it's OK not to be perfect at everything, all the time. Their kids would grow up knowing they could never measure up. Given me a lovingly-imperfect parent any day, as long as they're there for their kids and admit when they're wrong. #parenting

Little One has friends with two mums, two dads, a single mum, an adopted family, divorced parents and knows both non binary people and a friendly adult who has transitioned their gender while we knew them. We've been to drag queen story times, which Little One enjoys, because dressing up and telling stories and singing is Fun. None of that has been confusing or an issue at all. You know what this child finds confusing and upsetting? That there are people with no home, sleeping in the streets. With nothing to eat. That makes no sense to them. And rightly so, because it has no justification. #parenting #socialJustice

Watched Babe. Cute enough story that is probably a lot of people’s exposure to temporary vegetarianism. Not sure I would recommend it to an adult, but it’s great for #parenting. The dog is Hugo Weaving! #MovieReview

PA Day - No school for kids today. So naturally, instead of having to be dragged out of bed kicking and screaming at 8am before school, my kid woke up at 6:30am bright and energetic ready to terrorize me. #parenting #dadlife

You know you are raising a Cajun child when the bathwater is too hot and she yells "CRAWFISH BOIL!" #parenting

They know what's in your house. They know who your friends are. They know what you say about people behind their back. They know what you eat. They know where you sleep. They know when you're on your period. They know when you fart. They are not the NSA. They are not the CIA. They are your child's kindergarden teachers. #parenting

Testing... "If you are old enough to use social media in Australia, then you are old enough to act like an adult" Does this work? Is it stupid? #Parenting

I have kept all the emails I received from school concerning the kids. One child had 984 emails sent to me, until the end of Year 10. The others were 680 and 409. I'm gonna suggest that's too many emails. #Parenting

Like, he wanted to wear a Metallica shirt and tracksuit pants... so to be clear, I respect that. #parenting
