Kids are in bed, I just ran the Tr8s and the T-8 for half an hour on the balcony in the dark. It felt good but I need a bit of light for the T-8 at least to find unlit controls. But I still got it. Learned a nifty new work flow, too.

Für uns Steuerzahler sind das 90 Mio Euro pro Jahr Einsparungen für die gleiche Leistung. Für die Vorgesetzten von Frau Reiche sind das mindestens 90 Mio Euro pro Jahr Verluste. Und das ist in diesem Land inakzeptabel. Denk doch mal an die vielen Arbeitsplätze!!! Nein, nicht die in der Solarindustrie, die Altmaier abgesägt hat, die interessiert keine Sau. Nein ich mein die in der Fossilindistrie natürlich! Da muss man doch Verantwortung übernehmen!!

Is auch eher ein Politikum. Die Telekom sendet ausgehende eMails ihrer Kunden zuverlässig überall hin wo sie hin gehört. Aber wenn du eine eMail an ne Domäne schickst, die von der Telekom verwaltet wird, dann haben sie ne Whitelist wer ihnen Mails zustellen kann. Und lehnen alles Andere ab. Sprich: Wenn du ne Mail bekommst und auf Antworten klickst, kommt "554 None/Bad Reputation" vom Telekom-Server als Antwort, zusammen mit ner eMail-Adresse, wo dir dann jemand erklärt, dass die Telekom nur Mails von Server-IPs annimmt, die ein ladungsfähiges Impressum via http(s) liefern. Dafür werfen sie dir dann ihre Acceptable Use Policy (https://postmaster.t-online.de/) an den Kopf und nehmen ihre Kunden quasi in Geiselhaft. Spiel das Spiel mit oder Mail-Kommunikation funktioniert nur in eine Richtung.
Ich musste das demletzt durchspielen, weil meine Frau im Zuge ihres Ehrenamtes mit verschiedenen Leuten kommunizieren musste und da t-online gehostete Maildomänen dabei sind. Ich hab da genauso wie du mit der DSGVO argumentiert und auf einmal reichte ein Onlineformular mit dem man Nachrichten an den Serveradmin schicken kann. Fand ich seltsam, aber meine Frau konnte ihre Korrespondenz führen. Glückliche Frau war das Projektziel. 😅

Weil wir argumentieren mit "Hey, ich lass hier private Mailservices für meine Familie laufen!" und uns da nicht in eine Impressumspflicht stellen lassen wollen?

So they basically inherited all of their "Millions of customers all over germany" which they use in arguments on why all the usual rules don't apply to them and why they make up their own rules. "Oh, you want to send an email to one of our millions of customers? These are the terms. Oh, you want to peer your network with us? We know, usually both sides pay their connection line to a datacenter and then we just connect the routers with a cable, but if you want to peer to our millions of customers, you pay for your line. And for ours, too. And for the cable. Be thankful, that this is all we want you to pay."
That's Telekom. Like a bratty throne heir who accomplished nothing in their lives. Although they are well connected with the german gouvernment, so nobody wants to really fuck with them.

There's a document where they list their requirements but in the end it's a whitelist. They deny incoming mails from every IP which is not on their list. If you contact them to basically get on the list, they manually check your smtp host if you meet their requirements and whitelist you.

Ich konnte sie auf ein Kontaktformular runterhandeln, musste aber versichern, dass der Transport dann nicht per eMail erfolgt. Ich habe ne ntfy-Instanz auf einem meiner Server laufen, das Webformular generiert jetzt eine Notification auf mein Smartphone.
Eigentlich wollte ich den Zugriff per Firewall auf die Admin-Netzwerke der Telekom zumachen, aber das war für sie absolut inakzeptabel.
Aber bei jeder Gelegenheit seine eigenen Kunden in Geiselhaft nehmen und rumprotzen, dass sie der größte Provider Deutschlands sind und damit eigene Regeln festlegen können, an die sich jeder zu halten hat.

Just asking, because THOSE guys behave like they wrote the SMTP RFCs all by themselves...

Digger, wenn aufs Jahr betrachtet die Gasrechnung plus Stromrechnung höher ist, als die Stromrechnung "Normaler Verbrauch plus Verbrauch Wärmepumpe", dann habe ich auch ohne PV nen guten Businesscase. Und wenn ich die Ersparnisse dann in ein paar Jahren in PV investieren kann, ist das Win-Win-Win. Scheiss doch drauf wie teuer da der Einzelposten ist.
Aber nee, wie die Betonköpfe hier...

Mein Therapeut hat es mit einem Szenenwechsel im Film verglichen. Man geht in den nächsten Raum und zack, neue Szene. Vielleicht andere Zeit, anderer Ort, andere Personen in der Szene. Und mein ADHS-Gehirn so "RESET!! ALLES AUF ANFANG!" 😅

Ich finde das spannend, weil ich genau "andersrum" im Fediverse aufgetaucht bin: Erst als ITler, der keinen Bock mehr auf Twitter unter Space Karen hatte. Und danach bin ich erst zum (Hobby-)Musiker geworden, der aber noch den Vorteil hat das alles einfach so zum Spaß machen zu können.
Ich finde das spannend, weil ich genau "andersrum" im Fediverse aufgetaucht bin: Erst als ITler, der keinen Bock mehr auf Twitter unter Space Karen hatte. Und danach bin ich erst zum (Hobby-)Musiker geworden, der aber noch den Vorteil hat das alles einfach so zum Spaß machen zu können.

Many know that ADHD is inheritable. But do you know how fucking frustrating it is to see someone else with exactly your ADHD who has not developed your copings yet? Last night I told my son to brush his teeth and to switch off the bathroom light when he's done.
I just woke up at 5am and like the old fart that I am I needed to pee. I got up and saw light fro. Upstairs. "Arrggh, that kid! I told him to switch off thr light! And all he has to say later is Meh, I forgot!"
I went to the bathroom upstairs, made my thing and switched off the lights. And now I remember that he doesn't have my "I'm about to leave this room and I'm the last one. Light check!"-coping developed yet. And without that I'd leave the lights on, too...
Well, at least he brushed his teeth. And honestly? At that time he was without meds anymore, so yeah, of course he forgot.

This week I received a few emails at work. Two of them were Copilot-generated. And I immediately recognized them as such, because the style was entirely wrong for the people who send the mails. One of the mails was refering to a meeting I had with that person. And the facts were entirely wrong. Things I said suddenly became things they said, things we agreed on changed... At this point I don't know if it was hallucinated or purposely prompted. My instinct is to pretend the mail was not generated but written. And full of lies. Because if I don't say anything, it becomes fact. Next time we speak about that project, they will say "But in my last email from march about that topic we agreed to..."
This is a problem. Because people stop thinking themselves and starting to offload their mental abilities to LLMs. Means if the LLM fucks up, they just don't know anymore. And can't even realize.

It's insomnia 3am again. Okay, it's 3:31 now but I woke up half an hour ago, as it is tradition.
Been a busy week, stood up to my team manager yesterday and I'm still a bit angry but also happy that I finally opened my mouth.
I used every lunch break to set up the Tr8S and the TB3 and trained how to play what I think could be a set. I'm still thinking I could do better but there is always a point to start at. One day I will do better. Yes, I compare it to that set I played at last years GPN but that was just awesome and pure luck (since I prepared nothing and let the 303 constantly generate random note patterns to play). I try not to repeat that, fuck up and be unhappy with myself.
So many cool and awesome but also sad and cruel things happen last year, that I'm very careful what I wish for. We lost two cats last year, both who were very focused on me personally. Varla was basically my shadow for 15 years and Kurt turned out to be my little snugglekitten until... that car. Nope, not going there now.

Today is a bad day. I mean it was okay until I suddenly saw a picture of Kurt and remembered how he was, how he suddenly died and how I was grieving about him. Until I started to forget. Everything came back and washed me away for some time. It got better, then it went bad again.

I just had a video playing in the background and the content creator person said "I'm not talking about this topic, you guys know we don't do politics on this channel".
A few thoughts about that.
Everything is political. Even saying no political topics shall be discussed here is political. Because it is either a stance from a privileged perspective (I'm not affected, so I can affort to STFU and I don't want to make you guys uncomfortable) or it is due to a dependency (I will loose this channel/income/etc, if I address the wrong political topics). I think if you depend on something that forces a gagball into your mouth, try to get rid of it and speak up. And if you're privileged, then it is your fucking duty to speak up.
Either way, it helps to state your opinion. Because some people would like to know who they support. For me, I raised my voice a few times, everyone should know where I stand. If not: My great grandfather was imprisoned by the SS in KZ Dachau for his political activities. I hate Nazis and I think part of what happens currently in germany is caused by the fact that the US military court back in Nürnberg did hang only the big ones and not every fucking single one of them.

Well, I got a Novation Circuit Tracks which technically do this and maybe would also find a place on my table, too. But nah, I know I can do it manually and I pulled it off before. It just needs training.
Also: Midi-remote controlling a TR-8S with a Circuit Tracks? It's a bit like towing a Porsche with a VW Golf. It will probably work but it would also make people who see it angry. 😅

@nflux Hmm, I think the way I try to pull it off is a bit more slower in the begining which makes the end too complex to pull it off with a variant. I tried to record it a few times and this is one instance where I was able to pull it off manually without a variant and on time. Almost. Now while listening to it I'd say I also need to silence the second synth sample for a bar just to let the delay echo drenched silence for a bit, but that makes the timing even harder.
The thing is: I pulled this off after 3 or 4 tries. And I want me to be able to pull this off at the first time, 15min into my set.
I guess I make my job easier by moving the silence part into a variant, do the unmuting there and lock in variant A in under 2 seconds before fucking everything off...

I think I might have an idea. I copied the one, lone second synth track over to variant B. Now instead of muting the first synth track, I switch over to B, trigger A for the next bar, rip the LPF wide open, set ride cymbal volume to 0 and hit mute-clear. The switchback to A at the end of the bar drops everything in perfectly on beat.
Now I "just" have to train on how to quickly finish all the manual steps on time within, let's see... 4 beats at 135 BPM... ... 1.7 seconds. 😅😭

I thought of copying everything from variant A to variant B and instead of unmuting, I select B and let the sequencer do the switch... but it doesn't store the mute state individually.
So I copied the entire pattern to the next pattern slot and tried the same... it doesn't store the mute state in the pattern as well.
Any Idea I could try besides adding a click track just for my headphones to give me an orientation?

Obviously, I don't have the Finger to push all those buttons at the exact same time. I gave up on that. That's why I put the ride cymbals fader to zero: I hold the mute button and hit the clear button to unmute everything.
Sometimes I miss the clear button and hit shift. Which does nothing.
Sometimes I miss the first step and when everything comes up the first kick is missing which kills the mood.
