@James we bought our first Zojirushi in 2018 after seeing them at several hotels on our previous trip to Japan, and realized the electric kettles we had been buying again and again were just a waste of money and resources. I’m happy beyond words right now…well, save the fact that we beat our luggage to Imabari by an hour! This was one of the most beautiful bike rides @elfkin and I have ever done. Riding winding bike paths through forests and under cherry trees bursting with blossoms, crossing gorgeous bridges from island to island… and coming over that last bridge, the most stunning display of layer upon layer of mist-covered Shikoku mountains. Well, this should be fun. I did not realize the bag drop deadline for Sagawa, the folks who will carry your gear along the #ShimanamiKaido so you can collect it at the other end, are an hour earlier on the Onomichi side (9a) versus the Imabari side (10a). Our train arrives at Onomichi station at 8:52. I sure hope they will give us a few minutes to change into our kit… otherwise we’ll have to come up with a new plan for the day. 🙃 #日本fieldtrip

Today, Kyoto has reminded us that we are not like our fellow travelers: The young Scandinavian girl who tried to shame us for talking quietly on a train with a local; the obnoxious American woman who stomped right past the slippers and shoe storage area at the entrance to the Raku museum and then later demanded the staff call her a taxi; the loud Chicagoans bragging about how they bought the wrong tickets for a train from CDG to Versailles & argued with the station police until they let them go.
