South Western #Railway has welcomed back the Railway 200 exhibition train ‘Inspiration’ to its network, with recent visits to Kingston and Salisbury drawing around 3,000 visitors. The national Railway 200 programme, marking 200 years of Britain’s railways, began on 1 January 2025 and has featured more than 10,000 events. SWR has hosted 90 events across its region, attracting 9,478 visitors, supported by 282 volunteers who gave an estimated 3,602 hours. Highlights include murals at #London #Waterloo and other stations, anniversary plaques at locations across the network, and a reflective garden at Brookwood Cemetery in #Surrey, honouring railway colleagues. #Transport for #London Freedom of Information release: #TfL has published its response to an FOI request about the outer boundary of Zone 6 in #Surrey. The requester sought the rationale for setting the Zone 6 boundary at #Surbiton on routes to #Guildford and #Woking, and at #Hampton Court for Thames Ditton and Hampton Court stations, as well as any related meeting minutes or correspondence on extending Zone 6 in Elmbridge. TfL said the zonal system was introduced around 30 years ago, broadly based on six concentric zones across London, with few changes since and only where revenue impacts allowed. TfL confirmed it has no power to extend zones to stations outside its network, stating this would be for the train operator and the Department for Transport. It holds no relevant correspondence and no minutes from a May 2025 meeting with Monica Harding MP.
