South Western #Railway has welcomed back the Railway 200 exhibition train ‘Inspiration’ to its network, with recent visits to Kingston and Salisbury drawing around 3,000 visitors. The national Railway 200 programme, marking 200 years of Britain’s railways, began on 1 January 2025 and has featured more than 10,000 events. SWR has hosted 90 events across its region, attracting 9,478 visitors, supported by 282 volunteers who gave an estimated 3,602 hours. Highlights include murals at #London #Waterloo and other stations, anniversary plaques at locations across the network, and a reflective garden at Brookwood Cemetery in #Surrey, honouring railway colleagues. The initiatives aim to celebrate rail’s heritage while inspiring future generations.
