Intere vallate hanno costruito la propria identità e il proprio sviluppo attorno agli impianti di risalita e alla promessa di una stagione invernale che ogni anno riportava turisti, lavoro e vita in montagna. Oggi, però, questo equilibrio risulta estremamente fragile. A causa del cambiamento climatico, gli inverni sono più brevi e imprevedibili, la neve naturale diventa spesso un ricordo e molte stazioni sciistiche - soprattutto a quote medio-basse - faticano a restare aperte. Tra costi crescenti, innevamento artificiale e nuove incertezze climatiche, il modello su cui si è basato per decenni il turismo invernale sta entrando in una fase di profonda trasformazione, e a poco può servire la patinata immagine che hanno restituito le Olimpiadi invernali di Milano Cortina. Attraverso le voci di climatologi, esperti di montagna, amministratori locali, maestri di sci e operatori turistici, il documentario "Fine stagione" racconta cosa significa vivere e lavorare in un territorio che cambia più velocemente di quanto si possa immaginare. Tra resistenza, adattamento e nuove possibilità, il reportage racconta il diverso approccio di alcune località alpine tutte alle prese con la medesima domanda: come reinventare la montagna quando la neve non è più una certezza? Late Season. The future of the mountains without snow. For decades, skiing has represented much more than a sport: it has been the economic and cultural engine of many alpine communities. Entire valleys have built their own identity and development around lifts and the promise of a winter season that each year brought tourists, work, and life to the mountains. However, today, this balance is extremely fragile. Due to climate change, winters are shorter and more unpredictable, natural snow often becomes a memory, and many ski resorts – especially at lower elevations – struggle to remain open. With rising costs, artificial snowmaking, and new climatic uncertainties, the model that for decades underpinned winter tourism is entering a phase of profound transformation, and the glossy image offered by the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics is of little use. Through the voices of climatologists, mountain experts, local administrators, ski instructors, and tourist operators, the documentary "End of Season" tells what it means to live and work in a territory that is changing faster than one can imagine. The 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan–Cortina have come to a close, and Norway finished at the top of the table with 41 medals (18 gold, 12 silver, 11 bronze), more than any other country at the Games.
