These are the 'Witches’ Stairs' commonly found in old New England homes. It is believed that the design was thought to confuse or trap witches, preventing them from easily climbing the stairs due to the staggered pattern. @BiancoDavinci #witchcraft #globalmuseum #NewEngland #heritage
