I like the Mac Pro as a concept,. but as an execution I think it's been horribly defunct for many years. Not disappointed to read @markgurman@mastodon.social's latest that it's fallow. Apple's made it

@flargh@mastodon.social @markgurman@mastodon.social My 2019 is a good machine, but honestly, I think it's less stable than my frankensteined out the wazoo 2009 was. Part of that is modern macOS is a "reboot to fix it" garbagefire, part of that is it's less a standard PC than the 2009 was, and every time Apple does something nonstandard, it introduces instability.
For example, the T2-linked proprietary SSDs that the machine can't boot without, even if they're blank, because the machine's firmware is stored on them.
