@0xabad1dea @xaetacore If it's owned by USPS, it's a postbox. Since the ones that are at people's homes in the US are *not* owned by USPS, they aren't called postboxes. The drop-off boxes are called postboxes, since they are owned by the USPS.

@0xabad1dea Do they call the mailbox the postbox there too? I know that a major difference in British English is that mailboxes are called postboxes instead. So the usage of "mail" as the conventional way to describe letter delivery really only started with email there.

@jab01701mid I'm going to be the bad guy and say the fact that UNIX tools haven't adapted to LFNs properly in over fifty years is terrible. Normal people want natural file names (and even technical people like myself do too).

Protip: Make sure your username doesn't have spaces regardless of platform (Windows, POSIX-like, or otherwise). While technically valid and some tools can handle it, a lot more can't.

@matk @herzenschein The Windows conventional installer stacks these days are all MSI based except NSIS and InnoSetup. I personally used NSIS for Windows stuff, but lots of people use WiX or layers on top of WiX for creating installer packages. Fedora maintains a package for cross-compiling NSIS installers from Linux, so I continue to use NSIS for my Windows stuff.
WiX is piles of pain, and getting help from the WiX folks is... unfun.

@distrowatch @kde What is a "pure KDE" system? Pretty much everyone has been using SDDM for ten years now. SDDM is even maintained by someone who is also a KDE contributor. And we have a LightDM greeter maintained by a different KDE contributor.
So if you want a "pure KDE" system (which I guess means maximizing components from the KDE project?), then use the LightDM KDE greeter.
Or just keep using SDDM. The Plasma integrations are still maintained and developed.
