mastodon 4.5.6

Interested in anonymity, imaginary ailments, 60s/70's electro-acoustic music (and other music), the books I used to read, movies (mostly high pretension classics, 30s Hollywood classics, and campy b-movies), doing chess puzzles and playing chess at the idiot level, dogs (except tiny ones bred to be carried), alcoholic drinks, birds, colors. Dislikes: short-sleeved collared shirts, the writing in recent tv shows, people who carry extra-wide umbrellas, people who seem to like everything.

Out of nowhere, heard some classic antisemitic stereotypes from a student today, along with a sort of "both sides" gloss of WW2. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Also weirdly, he allowed himself to be set straight.

I have no idea where kids are getting their information, but we should remind ourselves that historical literacy is not acquired automatically or by osmosis. Kids aren't learning much of anything at school, and the #history they're getting—you can't count on it being accurate.

I enjoyed this Xiu Xiu noise-making video. They're endearing shy about expressing their passion for sicko oscillator gristle.

The US men's hockey team seems like a bunch of manosphere chuds. I'm sure the Canadian team is, too, though.

Can anyone with electronics experience help me read this block diagram? I can't get a clear answer from Soundcraft support or on the internet as to whether effects patched to the inserts on this mixing board will be on the monitor and headphone outputs as well. It looks to me like the signal is routed back around to the monitors and headphones after the main mix faders (and inserts), but again — I don't have experience in reading these.

US men’s hockey team celebrates with Kash Patel and attends the state of the union as Trump’s guests. I hope you know that if you had lost to Canada and got silver, they wouldn’t have gone near you. You wouldn’t only have lost the game, you’d have been “losers.”

Very pleased with this. Nice packaging, very good transfer, and a wealth of commentaries and documentary extras. Another one of those blurays that feels like a small course in #physicalmedia form.

I like this film very much, though the Arthurian mythology does most of the work in making the film interesting. It’s impossible to streamline all of the fragmented and contradictory source legends into a flowing narrative arc, but each section has its resonance and it’s never boring.

@mattblaze@federate.social To be honest, when I think about her now, it's usually in the context of her New Mexico home, which — though I've only seen two or three photos of it in total — represents some kind of ideal of architecture and interior design for me.

That ICE thug also has family members who are going to have to watch that video and figure out a way to believe the guy was under attack and that he shot the woman because his life was under imminent threat. Good luck to them. MAGA, like any fascist element, asks you to deny the evidence of your senses. But for these goons, it will require a whole network of family and acquaintances working overtime to uphold a blindingly disprovable fantasy. #uspol #ice
