I had one that diagnosed me and requested some basic brain imaging that was fairly unremarkable, but then dropped my insurance. I found myself reacting in very different ways to a similar theme in 3 movies the last few days.
I started to watch "Minority Report" because I remembered the technology was cool. But I totally forgot the religious aspects, which made me uncomfortable being atheist, to the point where I abandoned the show after less than 15 minutes.
But I watched two other favorite shows "Babette's Feast" and "Chocolat" that were even more overtly religious, and yet I thoroughly enjoyed myself with both.
I think the difference with the latter two is that I identified with/connected with the strong women lead characters and was able to appreciate the religion as being integral in understanding the mindset of the isolated cultures.

Three good things:
-> I've re-engaged with Amazon to get home supplies via the low income version of Prime. I know this is counter to avoiding Bezos, but for me, this allows me to live independently that much longer.
-> We did get a good amount of snow last Friday. And it's still sticking around despite warmer temps!

I was able to make an autistic teachable moment today. On my favorite YouTube vegan cooking channel, someone made a comment. They explained that they have to mute the sound for all of that channel’s videos because the cooking prep sounds are overwhelming. They even apologized for this. I adore the channel creator, but her response was to thank for their honesty.
We shouldn’t have to apologize for our needs, and so this wasn’t honesty. I was able to raise sensory sensitivity in the autistic experience and what it might involve.
I hope this might’ve been a small step in educating on our lived experience.

I’ve recently been deep diving on one of my favorite musician artists: Sade. She is such an amazing singer with a solid band that interweaves with her particular voice so well. She lives life on her terms with long breaks to recharge, enjoy life, and find inspiration for new songs. And it was so cool to learn she has a transgender son, and is very supportive!

This article has me rather concerned. I honestly don't know if cyclists are like pedestrians in presumption of being yielded to.
But for the city police chief to hit someone on a cycle with their unmarked car and not face any consequences doesn't seem right to me.

Watching a YouTube video analyze the multiple levels in the Nintendo game Majora's Mask gave me an insight that now explains my discomfort at portions of the game. This wasn't covered in the video commentary or the many comments I read.
Unless I'm mistaken, when Link applies a mask, he absolutely *screams* out in pain. From a literal level as a player, you are experiencing extreme pain by someone you are connected with, but are unable to help in any way.
But from a more symbolic sense, it now has an autistic parallel to me. We apply masks in order to appeal to those around us and to be acceptable in society. But yet applying masks are incredibly painful to us and our identity, but we do it to survive.
At the time I played the game, I was unaware of my AuDHD-ness. But now it feels like the game was awakening an understanding of the autistic struggles I faced daily.

I was just watching a deep analysis YouTube video into the thoughts behind the Donkey Kong Bananza game and particularly its motivations and structures. This included a lot about Pauline. They even integrated her part a bit in the original arcade game. But here's the great mystery I've been struggling to understand for literally decades.
Why is it that, in the arcade game, Pauline just stands at the top of the screen, frantically wriggling around, and yet... at the end of some levels, she suddenly looks to camera with her companion, and obviously has suddenly become fully pregnant. How did we get from there to here? Where are the romantic and intimate story beats? What explains this frantic motivation to be with child?
Deep minds want to understand this strange world and its even deeper mysteries. 😉
PS There is *just a bit* of tongue-in-cheek here, but I really have pondered this mystery since I was a budding gay teenager trying to understand the straight world.

Treatment with my local sleep medicine doctor has gone as it can, without any resolution. I have the two severe types of sleep apnea that cannot be treated due to a type of sleep disturbance, and I'm ok with that. But my specific sleep disturbance, ISWRD (irregular sleep wake rhythm disorder), does not seem to be resolvable locally. As background, this is most frequently seen in the elderly population in nursing homes, and thus I'm an outlier.
Would anyone happen to know of a specialist or facility that might be known for addressing ISWRD? Anywhere is fine as long as I can do telehealth.

I'm in a bit of a conundrum and would appreciate any suggestions on pain relief medications. Reference point: I'm in the USA.
I cannot use NSAIDs for a year post-spine fusion surgery (and they do nothing for me, anyway). I'm allowed to use Tylenol, but it does nothing either. I was prescribed Celebrex (celecoxib) but all it did was give migraine-like headaches and fatigue without any pain relief.
Is there anything else out there? My doctors are running out of ideas.

A couple days ago, I was saddened to learn my recently-ex father in law suddenly passed away. We had been prepared for my ex mother in law to pass soon, as she's an advanced stage COPD survivor for 10 years. But nope, it was someone we weren't steeled for.
He had been a part of my life for over 9 years and he was family to me, so I'm understandably processing my grief. I am very grateful for the love from my kitty Belle and the understanding from my ex, who is going through his own path and who I'm trying to be there in turn.
But what surprised me was my hyper-religious parents' response. When I called them to tell them, they were very harsh with no kind words at all. And then they were supposed to call me as soon as they got home, but instead sent a lame text at midnight that part of their phones weren't working. And yesterday, Mom was being clueless. The thing was, I really wanted to bond with my dad on this, as he lost his dad before his mom, but alas that didn't happen.
Long story short, I now am very disappointed in my family not being there *at all* in my time of need, and so grateful for my chosen family.

I have tried oh-so-many times to delve into poetry. But no matter how strong my resolve, I just can't do it.
It gave me much peace when I was confirmed an AuDHDer that many social situations are just inaccessible. Likewise, it would help give peace to me if it was not a personal failing that I cannot connect with much poetry.
