I miss buttons.

No, I don't mean, like, physical buttons instead of touch screens--yes, that, too, but that's not what I mean right now.

Looking at a web page, and you just have to *infer* from the design what's a button and what's just highlighted. Is this a button? No, it's just purple, with rounded edges. Exactly like all the actual buttons on the page, but a little different.

I want button-looking buttons. Square-cornered, "3D-ified", fake shadow, that "depresses" when you click it. Remember those? There was never any ambiguity about those.

Okay, so it's "Windows 95"-ish, and I'm an old man. But there was something to that design language, it spoke without words, you just knew. Yeah, I miss it a bit.

What the absolute hell is going on with police in Ontario lately? Or is it just that they're getting caught more recently? And Doug Ford wants to make sure no municipality can reduce police budgets. I say, get Ford out, defund and destroy police as they are and rebuild from the ground up, with a better model.

On the off chance that *your* hobby might save me a bunch of internet searching, I'm looking for a good place to learn about what perennial flowers are native to southern Ontario. I bought a few packets of seed a couple of years ago with an awesome mix, but nothing really grew, and I don't have the packets anymore with the listing on the back. I'd like to try new seeds of many of the varieties, but starting them indoors and introducing them when the weather is good, rather than simply scattering seeds like I did before. But I need to remember what to get.

TL;DR: Looking for website for southern Ontario native meadow flower species.

At some point last evening, most of the lights off, I was coming up the stairs, and was meowing at the cat. The cat meowed back, and we were having "a conversation", as you do. I became aware that the cat was in front of me, but the meowing was coming from further up the stairs. That's when I realized the cat wasn't saying anything, but my wife and I were meowing at each other, each of us thinking the other was the cat. Meanwhile, the cat was sitting between us, wondering what these two idiots were talking about. #cat #cats

@SnoopJ@hachyderm.io The real solution to the trolley problem is to understand that it's not a problem, in the sense that it's presented. You are given two options, both of which suck. But *you* didn't set this situation up. This situation is *the system*, and you are being told you're responsible for the outcome. You are not. Since only your hand is close enough to the lever, you can make a difference, but the fact that the problem exists in the first place, and therefore any outcome, is the responsibility of The System, not you. The System tries to make you think it's about you, that it's your fault this is happening, that whoever dies, it's on you. It is not. Don't believe what The System is telling you. You may be forced to live within it, but its evil outcomes are not truly your responsibility. The right answer is that, whatever you choose to do with that lever, proceed to work to dismantle The System that put those people on the track and sent the trolley toward them in the first place.
