Published a short #HOWTO on resolving "collation version mismatch" warnings when upgrading PostgreSQL in Docker containers(specifically Django applications).

Part of my ongoing quest to get my notes off of my local harddrive....

Highly recommend watching this 1963 Czechoslovak sci-fi film Ikarie XB-1

I just re-watched it again after discovering it last year. Good stuff.

As the trailer somewhat amusingly hypes, it's release(and impact) was at the interstices between the campy, cheesy effects and themes of the 50's and the later, more introspective films of the late '60s/'70s.

There is some really great Op art set design and an incredible electronic sound track to check out here.

That bug in that package that I've been tracking for months, that was mostly cosmetic, but kept showing up in the logs, that I couldn't figure out how to fix, but figured out how to kinda monkeypatch, but I didn't really want to, and have to eventually undo it?

You know, that one? It just got fixed in the latest version.

Woke up. Ignored the world. Spent the morning chopping, slicing, dicing, mincing and assembling a vegetable soup to feed us for the week.
As a request from one of my long-time fans, a new ingredient enters the pot: kale.

Glad I'm always working within the constraints of a ~1 gallon pot. I could easily see myself ad-hoc'ing my way to a 5 gallon concoction. Which would be silly when there are only 2 of us to feed.

Xfwl4 - The roadmap for a Xfce Wayland Compositor

"We, the Xfce team are excited to share some great news!

After careful consideration, we’ve decided on a meaningful way to use the generous donations from our community: funding longtime Xfce core developer Brian Tarricone to create xfwl4, a brand-new Wayland compositor for Xfce.

This initiative will utilize a significant portion of the project’s donated funds, but we believe it’s an important investment in Xfce’s future.

The goal is, that xfwl4 will offer the same functionality and behavior as xfwm4 does, or as much as possible considering the differences between X11 and Wayland. Using xfwl4 should feel just like using xfwm4 on X11. We even plan to reuse the existing xfwm4 configuration dialogs and xfconf settings to ensure a seamless transition.

Xfwl4 will not be based on the existing xfwm4 code. Instead, it will be written from scratch in rust, using smithay building blocks."
