Nezhat Amiri, Iran’s only female orchestral conductor and her fight to conduct. This article is from 8 years ago. Sadly I can’t find anything more recent. I hope she’s conducted other performances since then. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/feb/20/the-conductor-smashing-iranian-taboos-over-women-and-music #NezhatAmiri #Iran #classicalMusic #femaleconductor #genderpolitics #Tehran #MarinAlsop #ParvizMansouri #MortezaHannaneh #orchestra #IranianMusic #PersianClassicalMusic

Friends of mine perform tonight in a concert I can very much recommend! Contemporary classical music, very poetic and beautiful (but not necessarily simple). By female composers. https://www.iamsterdam.com/en/whats-on/calendar/concerts-and-music/concerts/women-and-the-starry-night #amsterdam #muziek #music #classicalmusic #cello #piano

Last day of coaching Nederlands Kamerkoor on Finnish. Today my job has mostly just been to listen and enjoy myself. :) I’m getting paid to listen to a professional choir sing a great piece of music. No complaints. :) #music #choir #classicalmusic

Bluebeard's Castle (Complete Opera) by Béla Bartók, Antal Dorati, London Symphony, Olga Szönyi, Mihaly Szekely, released on Mercury in 1963. Duke Bluebeard's Castle (Hungarian: A kékszakállú herceg vára, literally The Blue-Bearded Duke's Castle) is a one-act Symbolist opera by composer Béla Bartók to a Hungarian libretto by his friend and poet Béla Balázs. Bartók's only opera, it is based on the French folk legend, or conte populaire, as told by Charles Perrault, it lasts about an hour and deploys just two singing characters: Bluebeard (Kékszakállú) and his newest wife Judith (Judit); the two have just eloped and she is coming home to his castle for the first time. - Wikipedia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFhCxC0rrNw&list=RDOFhCxC0rrNw&start_radio=1 #BelaBartok #LondonSymphony #Opera #ClassicalMusic #BlueBeardsCastle #Music

Just to practise how to share a youtube video from a certain timestamp, hope this works as intended! Thank you everyone who gave advice. :) Our choir concerts are usually not streamed, unlike the Sunday services. But this was a special occasion celebrating the 650th anniversary of the province of Utrecht. So a composer from the province, Joannes Tollius (ca. 1550- ca. 1620)(aka Jan Tol if we're not being fancy) from Amersfoort, "Osculetur me osculo oris sui" and "Surge, propera amica mea". Later on in the video also Händel's Utrecht Te Deum which for obvious reasons we get perform pretty regularly. :) https://www.youtube.com/live/kizDZipR36c?si=mXYVb--U78-Es1fB #choir #churchchoir #music #classicalmusic

If there is a way to share a particular moment in a youtube video, instead of linking to the start of the video, I don't know it. But anyway, at about 1:10:30 here you can hear our choir singing some Gesualdo (a rather mild one mind you) at the service this morning, and have a look at one of the pretty windows in the Dom church. The volunteer who does the video took advantage of the fact that we sang around the baptismal font instead of where we usually stand. (I'm one of the people hidden by the chandelier) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3X5gxRLwnk #choir #churchchoir #music #classicalmusic

The music on the radio as I woke up this morning was Beethoven's Pastoral, which took me back to the audio book I had as a child which featured it. Does anyone else remember the 80s Pickwick Tell-A-Tale cassettes? I had to look it up, but I remembered the music from the Wind in the Willows book. Surprisingly, even though I have always loved reading, I don't think I've ever actually read the book. The other cassette I remember having was Snow White and Rose Red, which featured the music Morning from the Peer Gynt Suite. At the end of the story the music was used to fill in the space on the end of the cassette, so I must have fallen asleep to these two pieces of music many times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJWCWjyy0pI #bookstodon #classicalMusic
