They had all these cool secret rites and ancient knowledge. Don't you want to know the ancient knowledge? We have some really alluring secrets... Of course Elizabeth joined to find them out. Curiosity had its hooks and she had always fallen for the bait. The rest of the cult didn't even seem to mind that she spent most of her time in the temple library, just reading the ancient scrolls. She came for the secrets, and found them by the yard. Prayers. Rites. Rituals. Elizabeth studied them all. SKYCHILD’S FALL (2006) Acrylic on Gessobord - 22” x 22” Commissioned out of the blue by a Japanese firm for a calendar. I never learned how the company got my name or contact info. After providing a summary of what they wanted me to explore, they left me to it. In my novel, “Our Better Nature”, Mary and her compatriots use their weather-wrangling powers to take on the global industrial complex, to cure climate change. No one can stop them. Almost. Several have read the book and commented on it. According to them, it’s worth reading. (Links to full reviews below). They say: Not too witchy, but enough magic (I mean science) to make it fun. – M.F. It feels like an adult version of those fairy tales we were read when we were kids… I only wish it was true. – B.A. A strong and enjoyable start from a new voice in urban fantasy. – L.R.
