The White House announced a plan to cancel over 50 #space missions as part of a devastating 46% cut to #NASA #science.

The proposal would likely eliminate thousands of jobs at an agency that has just launched astronauts to the #Moon for the first time in decades, and dozens of other space missions would see their operations reduced or slowly wound down to a halt.

The following missions are to be cancelled:

  1. The Habitable Worlds Observatory being built to search for #life on dozens of Earth-like planets beyond our Solar System while addressing fundamental questions about our #Universe.

  2. OSIRIS-APEX capitalizes on the exceptionally rare 2029 Earth flyby of the potentially hazardous #asteroid #Apophis to advance planetary defense strategies and reveal how Earth’s #gravity alters an asteroid’s surface and interior.

  3. The ExoMars Rosalind Franklin rover will deliberately search for signs of life on #Mars by analyzing the composition of samples collected from as deep as 2 meters below the surface.

  4. The DAVINCI mission is an atmospheric probe that will be deployed to our sister planet, #Venus, and provide the first detailed measurements of the composition and chemistry of its #atmosphere.

  5. Initially focusing on #Jupiter’s interior, atmosphere, and aurora, #Juno is already orbiting Jupiter and has expanded during its extended mission to be a full system explorer capable of investigating the Galilean satellites, rings, inner moons, radiation belts, and boundaries of Jupiter’s magnetosphere.

  6. VERITAS will create unprecedented, global, high-resolution datasets of Venus designed to answer a fundamental question for rocky #planets: how did Earth and her twin Venus evolve into two entirely different examples of planetary #habitability?

Gmornin fedifam.. Welp, gonna be a rough one today. I woke up around 8am which is like 3am real people time. Good morning. 📚📖☕ 16 March 2026 Yesterday, Charlie and I made a Goodwill run, which means it’s time to start filling the box again. By “box,” I mean the large cardboard catch‑all in the laundry room where we toss things we no longer use but someone else might. I also drop in those little trinket gifts charities send. I never use them. Mailing labels are the lone exception — those I’ll keep. While I was at it, I pulled a couple of old technical books off my bookcase and tossed them in the back of the truck. This morning, I want to tackle the bookcase itself and finally fit the novels that have been lounging around the house back into it. I keep telling myself I should take a break from buying new books and reread some of the ones I already own. But how does one resist a new release from a favorite author? C’est la vie. Maybe what I really need is a bigger bookcase. I do wonder if keeping books counts as hoarding. It would certainly explain the little piles that keep appearing in my office. I mean, what do you do with a book you’ve just finished? You put it on the bookcase — or, if there’s no room, you put it next to the bookcase. Then the next one joins it, and the next, and so on. Eventually you look at the growing stack and think, Well, I really need to do something about that. And so it becomes out with the old and in with the new. My library has been slowly shifting from books of knowledge to books that entertain. After all, I’m done with all that going‑to‑work business. Life isn’t about what I need to know anymore — it’s about what I want to know. “Reading books is good. In #life #true #aspiration in #raw #thoughts are just #playing the #role of unspoken #anchors towards #wisdom that came your way. An #idea you did not ignore is a #blessing you let somebody else #embrace from within. There is no such thing as #peace through #strength because to be strong in #focus is all that is needed to be at peace with that very #ideal as such.

I am going to get #wild with my #thoughts in this new #HotTopic of #interest I have in mind. You are all that you #believe be it in something, or not. In #practical #terms #life is 50% yours to shape and 50% its shape around you to respond with. Thoughts aren't #energy they are what holds it in place if you empower their #purpose through #connection to it. Objects that are #still do not #move if they #anchor another object in #place where possible. Nobody #dreams alone.

People pleasing isn't kindness - it's the high price of renting your spot in society. I've been called shy and boring, but those aren't traits, they are security protocols.
